DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ask a good enduro coach how to improve and the answer often involves a patch of grass, a few cones and hours of slow riding. Tight figure eights, full-lock turns, feet up on the pegs: the drills look easy and are anything but. The Beta Xtrainer 250, with its low seat and gentle two-stroke manners, is a good machine to practise them on. For that kind of practice on the Xtrainer 250 of 2018 to 2022, Accossato offers the C7283, a folding clutch lever CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 whose long blade takes four fingers.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Beta Xtrainer 250, model years 2018 to 2022
- Takes the place of the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Long four-finger blade
- Joint lets the blade fold forward in a tip-over
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, made in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red; dark base
- No German ABE; for off-road practice and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Slow drills ask little of a lever until the bike falls over. The C7283 is shaped by CNC machines in Italy from a solid billet of Ergal 7075, a strong aluminium alloy, so that it holds up, weighs little and works reliably, which are the three aims Accossato names. A dark base stays on the clutch pivot; the coloured blade is joined to it by a folding joint and has the length Accossato gives its clutch levers, enough for four fingers.
Figure Eights at Walking Pace
Slow-speed control depends on three things working together: throttle, rear brake and clutch. The engine is held at a steady speed, the clutch slips to ration the drive, and the rear brake keeps the bike from running wide. At full lock the balance is delicate, and the clutch hand does fine work for minutes on end. A long lever gives that hand choices: a fingertip for small adjustments, or all four fingers when the forearm starts to tire.
Tip-overs are part of the process. At full lock, a moment's hesitation with the clutch and the Xtrainer 250 stalls and falls, usually towards the inside of the turn. In a figure eight that is the left side half the time, and the clutch lever meets the ground at low speed but with the whole weight of the bike on it. The joint in the C7283 lets the blade fold forward, giving it a fair chance of coming through the small falls a practice session produces. After an hour of drills on the Beta Xtrainer 250 you are still riding, not walking to the van for a spare.
Fitment and Compatibility
On the Beta Xtrainer 250 of 2018 to 2022 the C7283 goes where the stock clutch lever was; those are the years Accossato lists. Across the bar, the folding B8206 brake lever is listed for the same bike and period. Black, blue and red are made for both levers, and orange exists only for this clutch lever.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on record for the C7283. It is intended for off-road practice and competition; on a registered Xtrainer 250 it is not approved for public roads.
