DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha XT250X is a light 250cc single-cylinder four-stroke with road registration and a trail bike's manners, made for relaxed riding on gravel and dirt. It is most enjoyable on quiet off-road tracks, and most treacherous there in autumn, when fallen leaves cover the ground. For the XT250X of 2006 to 2015, Accossato offers the B8307, a front brake lever milled from Ergal 7075 in Italy. Its blade is joined to a dark base in a way that lets it fold forward rather than break when the bike goes down.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Yamaha XT250X, 2006 to 2015
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Short blade for three fingers
- Joint allows the blade to fold forward on impact
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black or blue on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Cut in Italy from a solid block of Ergal 7075, the B8307 is a machined lever rather than a cast or forged one. Accossato chose the alloy for its strength, so the lever can be dependable and still light. Its dark base mounts where the original lever pivoted, and its blade, black or blue, is attached to that base through a joint that lets it fold forward. The brake blade is short and made for three fingers, so the little finger stays on the grip while the others work the brake, a useful arrangement when the front wheel needs a delicate touch.
Autumn Leaves Over Hidden Stones
A carpet of leaves on a trail looks soft and harmless. Underneath, it hides everything that matters for braking: roots, stones, wet clay, the edge of a rut. The leaves themselves are slippery when damp, and a front tyre braking on them can lose grip without warning. Riders who carry on through the autumn adapt: they brake earlier and more gently, keep the bike upright while slowing, and treat every leaf-covered patch as if it were wet grass. On a light bike like the XT250X, a smooth squeeze of the front lever and a little more rear brake than usual keep the front tyre rolling.
Even careful riders are caught out when a hidden root or stone kicks the front wheel sideways under braking. The XT250X goes down, slides a little on the leaves and comes to rest on its side. If that side is the right, the hinge in the B8307 allows the blade to give way forwards rather than snap, so there is a good chance of lifting the bike and continuing with a working front brake. That is a possibility, not a guarantee, and a solid rock under the leaves can still be too much for any lever. But in the season when falls come most easily, it is one less thing to lose.
Fitment and Compatibility
Model years 2006 to 2015 of the Yamaha XT250X are the ones Accossato names for the B8307, which replaces the stock lever on the standard front brake master cylinder. The C7307 folding clutch lever covers the same years. Both levers are offered in black and blue only, so the XT250X can wear a pair in either colour.
Road Approval
The XT250X is road-registered, but the B8307 has no documented German ABE; with it fitted, the bike is not approved for public roads. It is intended for off-road riding only.
