Cross-country trail systems are often stitched together by gravel roads, and those fast connecting stretches are where a KTM 200 XC-W can be ridden hard in top gear. They usually end the same way: a sharp turn into singletrack, taken after heavy braking on loose gravel. It is a moment that asks a lot of the front brake and of the rider's judgement. Accossato's B8283 brings a folding blade to the front brake of the 200 XC-W from 2014 to 2016; it is CNC-milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy.

Construction and Material Quality
The company that makes the B8283 began in 1969 as a builder of competition motorcycles in Moncalieri, just outside Turin, and its off-road levers are still machined in Italy. This one is cut on CNC machines from solid Ergal 7075, a strong aluminium alloy chosen so the lever combines strength and reliability with low weight. It has a dark base on the master cylinder pivot and a blade in black, blue or orange, which meet at the folding joint. The blade is the short type, made for three fingers.
Gravel Road, Then a Hairpin
Gravel is deceptive at speed. It feels firm while the bike runs straight, but under hard braking the stones roll under the tyres, and a front wheel that is pushed too hard tucks without much warning. The way to stop well on it is progressive: brake early while the bike is still upright and straight, squeeze harder as the weight moves forward, and release gradually before turning in. On a light two-stroke like the 200 XC-W, which carries speed easily, the temptation is always to brake a little later than that.
The consequences are familiar to trail riders: a front end that folds at the entry to the turn and a bike that slides on its right side across the gravel, sometimes into the ditch. Gravel scrapes and snags, and a solid lever that catches on a larger stone can break off at the tip. With the B8283, the blade can hinge forward instead, which improves the chance of a usable front brake after the slide. Nothing makes a lever proof against every fall, but on a trail ride far from the van, that chance counts.
Fitment and Compatibility
The B8283 is listed for the KTM 200 XC-W from 2014 to 2016 and fits the original front brake master cylinder. On the clutch side, the C7284 folding lever is listed for a longer run of the same bike, 2009 to 2016, in the same colours. A 200 XC-W from before 2014 can therefore be fitted with the folding clutch lever but not with this brake lever.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE documented for the B8283. It is supplied for off-road riding and competition, the use the 200 XC-W is built for.
