DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a motocross track the hardest braking often comes straight after a jump. The Husqvarna FC 250 leaves the lip of a tabletop, touches down on the far side and has only a few bike lengths before a tight turn, so the rider has to find the front brake while the fork is still working through the landing. Accossato's B8283 was made for moments like that on this 250 four-stroke motocrosser, listed for 2014 to 2020 and for 2022. It is machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, and its blade sits on a joint so that a fall on the right side need not end with a snapped lever.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Husqvarna FC 250, 2014 to 2020 and 2022
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Short blade, drawn for three fingers
- Anti-break joint: the blade can fold forward when the bike goes down
- CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Dark base, blade in black, blue or orange
- Supplied as a single lever
- No German ABE documented; for motocross and closed off-road ground
Construction and Material Quality
Ergal 7075 is a high-strength aluminium alloy, and Accossato uses it for the B8283 because it wants three things from the lever at once: strength, low weight and reliability. The part is not cast. CNC machines in Italy cut it from solid material, and it is made as two pieces. The base, finished dark, stays on the master cylinder pivot of the FC 250; the blade, in black, blue or orange, is attached to it by the folding joint. Since this is the brake side, the blade is the short one of Accossato's pair, shaped for three fingers.
Landing Into the Turn
Track builders like to put a jump right before a corner, because it forces riders to decide in the air how they will slow down. On an FC 250 you want to keep the engine revving, so the usual plan is to jump long, land on the downslope and start braking the instant both wheels are back on the dirt. Done well, the bike settles into the rut and turns. Squeeze too hard while the fork is still compressed and the front tyre stops rolling, the bars snap sideways and the bike lies down before the turn has even begun.
Most of these crashes are slow and undramatic. The rider stands up, lifts the Husqvarna and looks for damage, which on the right-hand side usually starts at the brake lever. A blade that hits the ground end first can crack near the tip or bend back towards the bar. The joint in the B8283 is there to give it a way out: the blade can hinge forward on impact and then be moved back into position, and with some luck the next lap begins with the same lever and the same feel under the fingers. That is a possibility rather than a promise, and a hard enough hit will still leave its mark.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the B8283 for three version groups of the Husqvarna FC 250: 2014 to 2015, 2016 to 2020 and 2022. The 2021 model year is missing from that list, so the lever is not offered for it. It fits the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever. On the clutch side the FC 250 takes one of two Accossato levers depending on the year: the C7283 for 2014, 2015 and 2022, or the C7284 for 2016 to 2020. Of the three, only the C7283 is also made in red.
Road Approval
The B8283 has no documented German ABE. It is sold for motocross tracks and other closed off-road ground, which is where the FC 250 is meant to be ridden anyway.
