DescriptionThe whole story▼
Park a Monster 1200 on the grass at a summer bike meet and the side stand may not stay where you left it. Warm ground gives way under that small foot, the bike leans a little further every few minutes, and eventually it lies down on its left side, clutch lever first. Accossato's LV015 is a folding clutch lever for the 2016 to 2020 Monster 1200. It fits the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder, its distance from the grip can be adjusted, and its blade is hinged so it can fold under an impact instead of taking the whole blow.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Monster 1200, model years 2016 to 2020
- Mounts on the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder
- Blade hinged to the base, able to fold on impact
- Adjustable distance between blade and grip
- Black anodised base, blade in one of eight colours including titanium
- RST blade with lightening cut-out or plain NRST blade
- Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the LV015 from aluminium and anodises it in two tones. The part you rarely notice is the black base: it surrounds the pivot and holds the adjuster that sets the reach. The part you see and touch is the blade, finished in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver or titanium. A hinge links the two, and it is this joint that separates a folding lever from a conventional one. Whether the blade carries the RST lightening cut-out or is left solid is your choice when ordering.
Soft Ground Under the Side Stand
Grass verges, gravel car parks and tarmac softened by a hot afternoon have one thing in common: they let a side stand sink. Because the stand is on the left, a Monster 1200 that loses its footing falls to the left, and the clutch lever and bar end take the weight. A rigid lever tends to snap near its end under that load. The LV015's blade can fold on its hinge instead, which gives it a better chance of coming through intact, although no lever can be promised to survive every fall.
Why does the clutch side matter so much? Because getting home depends on it. A missing clutch lever turns every junction and every set of lights into a problem, since pulling away cleanly needs it. A small plate under the stand, or a flattened drinks can in an emergency, spreads the load on soft ground and prevents many of these falls in the first place. The folding blade is there for the day when that precaution is forgotten, which, at a busy meet with friends to talk to, happens more often than anyone admits.
Fitment and Compatibility
This clutch lever is listed by Accossato for the Monster 1200 from 2016 to 2020. On the right of the bar, the LV013 folding brake lever matches it over the same years, and the RA002, a brake lever with a remote adjuster, completes the folding range for this Monster. Riders who prefer a fixed lever will find the ESH011 in Accossato's range, listed for the Monster 1200 from 2014 to 2019.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the LV015, so we offer it for track use.
