DescriptionThe whole story▼
Race distance changes a motorcycle. Fuel burns off, tyres lose some of their grip, and the rider's hands grow tired. The RA001 was designed with that in mind. Accossato's folding brake lever for the KTM RC8 1190 carries a 90-degree remote adjuster, so the rider can alter the lever setting with the left hand during the race, without leaving the throttle and without a trip to the pits. It is listed for the RC8 1190 from 2008 to 2015 and replaces the brake lever on the original master cylinder.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the KTM RC8 1190, 2008 to 2015
- 90-degree remote adjuster, operated with the left hand
- Holder available in 35 mm or 60 mm
- Fits the original brake master cylinder
- Black base, blade in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red or silver
- Blade with RST lightening cut-out or without (NRST)
- Blade can fold if struck; standard length
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's braking experience comes from brake discs developed for Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and the RA001 is aimed at the same world. The lever consists of a black base on the master cylinder pivot and an anodised blade connected to it by a folding joint, both cut from aluminium on CNC machines. The remote adjuster is the extra element: it relocates the adjustment to where the left hand can reach it, and it comes with a holder in 35 mm or 60 mm, selected when you order.
Half a Race Later
Many riders set the brake lever in the paddock, with fresh tyres and a full tank, and leave it alone until the chequered flag. Over a long race on an RC8 1190, the position that felt right on the grid can start to feel too far out or too close once the pace rises, the forearms tire and braking points move later. With a conventional adjuster, the only choices are to live with it or come in. The RA001 moves that decision onto the straight: the left hand reaches the remote adjuster, makes a change and returns to the bar while the right hand holds the throttle. Practise the movement in a quiet session before relying on it in a race, and make changes only when the RC8 is upright and stable. Afterwards, note what you changed and at which point of the race. If you find yourself adjusting at the same moment every time, a different starting setting may save you the trouble. The folding blade stays part of the package, so a tumble in the gravel is less likely to leave you without a brake lever for the next outing.
Fitment and Compatibility
Listed for the RC8 1190 from 2008 to 2015, the RA001 goes onto the original brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever. Riders who have no use for remote adjustment can choose the LV012, the folding brake lever for the same years, where the reach is set at the lever's own base.
Road Approval
Accossato built the RA001 for racing. No German ABE is documented for it, and it is sold for use on the circuit.
Scope of Delivery
