DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Panigale 959 replaced the 899 in 2016 and kept its compact superbike proportions, including low clip-ons and, as on most bikes of its kind, only limited steering lock for walking it around. Parking it nose-first in a sloping space is easy; getting it out backwards is another matter. Accossato's LV013 is a folding front brake lever for the Panigale 959 of 2016 to 2019. It fits the original master cylinder, adjusts in reach, and has a hinged blade that can fold when it strikes the ground.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Ducati Panigale 959, 2016 to 2019
- Fitted to the original brake master cylinder
- Blade on a hinge, can fold in a tip-over
- Adjustable reach
- Black base; blade in eight colours including titanium
- RST lightening cut-out or NRST
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the LV013 in two aluminium parts, both machined on CNC equipment and then anodised. The black base sits at the pivot and holds the adjuster. The blade, hinged to the base, can be ordered in any of eight colours, titanium among them, and with or without the RST lightening cut-out. The hinge is the defining feature: it allows the blade to move out of the way of a blow instead of taking it head-on.
Reversing Out of a Sloping Space
Picture a café car park that slopes towards the road. You rolled the Panigale 959 in forwards, downhill, and now it has to go back up. Standing on the left, you push backwards with the bar turned, holding the front brake to stop it rolling forward between pushes. With the clip-ons low and the steering lock limited, the bike leans towards you one moment and away the next, and the right hand works hard on the brake lever throughout.
If it leans away and your grip goes, the bike falls to the right, and the brake lever takes the impact. The LV013 is made for that moment: its blade can fold on the hinge rather than breaking at the end, so there is a fair chance the lever survives. The smarter solution is to avoid the manoeuvre altogether: park the Panigale 959 facing out, or ask someone to help. But everybody misjudges a space eventually, and the folding blade forgives some of it.
Fitment and Compatibility
According to Accossato, the LV013 fits the Panigale 959 from 2016 to 2019, including the Corse version of 2018 and 2019. It replaces the original brake lever. The same model years are covered by the LV015 for the clutch and by the RA002, which adds a remote adjuster to the brake side. Accossato's fixed EDF099 is listed for this bike only from 2016 to 2018.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for this brake lever, so we sell it for track use.
