DescriptionThe whole story▼
Near idle, a 600 supersport has far less pulling power than a big bike, because it makes its power high in the rev range. On the R6 of 2017 to 2020, that means moving off asks for a few more revs and a little more slip at the clutch than riders of larger machines are used to, especially on an uphill slope. The Accossato ESV04A is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for this R6, with an adjustable distance to the grip so that the friction zone sits right under your fingers.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Yamaha R6 of 2017 to 2020

- Reach adjustable to place the friction zone where you want it
- Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green and orange
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm
- Anodised aluminium, CNC-machined, black hub
- One rigid piece, no folding joint
- Delivered in an Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the ESV04A out of aluminium and anodises it. The hub, anodised black, contains the pivot and the adjuster that sets the reach, while the blade carries the colour you select. There is no hinge, so the clutch lever acts as a single rigid arm, and the engagement you feel through it depends only on the clutch itself. On a bike where the friction zone is used as deliberately as on the R6, that consistency is worth having.
Pulling Away on a 600
Every rider stalls now and then, but on a high-revving 600 it is easier to do, because the engine delivers little at the bottom of its range. The cure is a smooth, slightly longer slip through the friction zone with a few more revs than you would use on a big twin. That is harder to do well when the lever sits at the limit of your reach, because a stretched hand tends to release the clutch in steps rather than in one fluid movement. Set the reach so that you can hold the lever at the bite point with a relaxed hand and comfortably bent fingers, then practise a few starts on a quiet road until the amount of slip becomes automatic. On a slope, hold the bike with the rear brake so that the right hand can concentrate on the throttle. The long ESV04A lowers the effort of holding the clutch, which makes a slow release easier. After a while, a clean start on the R6 becomes something you no longer think about, which is the point of getting the lever right.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESV04A for the R6 from 2017 to 2020 and fits it in place of the original lever at the stock clutch mounting. The earlier R6, from 1999 to 2016, has a different clutch lever on Accossato's list, the ESY688. On the brake side of the 2017 to 2020 bike, the EDR015 is the matching Accossato lever, available in the same colours.
Road Approval
The ESV04A is offered for circuit riding, as there is no documented German ABE for it.
