DescriptionThe whole story▼
Adventure bikes collect accessories, and the Tiger 800 XCx is no exception: luggage, crash bars, a navigation mount and, on many bikes, heated grips. The last of these changes something that is easy to overlook, namely the thickness of what your left hand is holding. The Accossato EST333P is a clutch lever for the XCx of 2015 to 2018, machined from aluminium with an adjustable reach, which lets you move the blade to suit the grip that is actually on the bike today.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Tiger 800 XCx, model years 2015 to 2018
- Replaces the original lever at the standard clutch mounting
- Adjustable distance between blade and grip
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; short and long blades in several colours
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
- Rigid construction without a hinge
- No German ABE documented, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The EST333P is milled from a solid aluminium blank and anodised once it has its final shape. In that process the outermost aluminium becomes oxide, and the dye settles into the oxide, so the colour of the blade is part of the part itself and cannot peel away in flakes as paint can. The hub, with the pivot bore and the adjuster, is always black. From there to the tip the lever is a single rigid piece, which means there is no joint to wear and no play to creep into the feel of the clutch over the seasons.
Heated Grips, Thicker Grips
Heated grips are often a little thicker than plain rubber ones, and even a small increase in diameter changes how the hand closes around the bar. The fingers wrap further round, their tips end up further from the blade, and a clutch lever that used to fall naturally under them suddenly needs a stretch. Over a long day that stretch adds up. On the XCx, the EST333P lets you bring the blade back to where it belongs. Heated grips change the choice of gloves as well: with warm grips, many riders swap bulky winter gloves for thinner ones, which moves the fingers once again. The practical approach is to set the reach for the combination you ride in most, with the grips switched on and your usual cold-weather gloves, and to adjust again when the season turns. If the heater switch is mounted on the left bar, check after fitting that the blade clears it at full pull.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Tiger 800 XCx, Accossato gives the model years 2015 to 2018, and the EST333P fits the original clutch mounting on those bikes. The EDF014 brake lever covers the same XCx years if you want a matching pair, keeping in mind that the long blade is not made in black, red or silver.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the EST333P, and it is offered for use on the track.
