DescriptionThe whole story▼
Moving a clutch lever closer to the grip is one of the simplest comfort changes you can make to a motorcycle, and one of the few that deserves a short test afterwards. The EST333 is Accossato's CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the Triumph Speed Triple 1050 R of 2012 to 2015. It fits at the original clutch mounting, and its reach adjuster moves the blade towards the bar for smaller hands or away from it for bulkier gloves.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Speed Triple 1050 R, 2012 to 2015
- Installed at the original clutch mounting
- Distance between blade and grip adjustable
- Blue, gold, green and orange in short, standard and long
- Silver in standard and short; black and red in standard only
- Standard length approximately 138 mm
- Anodised, CNC-machined aluminium with a black hub
- Rigid blade, no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Two tones, one piece: the EST333 is cut from aluminium by CNC milling and anodised, black on the hub and in your chosen colour on the blade. The hub carries the pivot bore with the reach adjuster beside it. Nothing along the blade is hinged, so there is no joint to wear loose and the bite point stays where you set it. Because anodising colours the outer layer of the metal itself, the finish copes with years of gloved fingers without the worn patches that paint tends to develop.
Reach Versus Full Release
Bringing the EST333 closer to the grip changes where the blade starts its travel. For most riders that is the whole point, since the fingers no longer have to stretch. What it can also change is how much lever movement is left before the blade meets your fingers curled around the grip, and a clutch needs its full movement to free completely. So after any change to the reach on the Speed Triple 1050 R, run a quick test. Sit on the bike with the side stand up, the engine running and the front brake held. Pull the clutch fully and select first gear: the bike should not lurch or try to creep against the brake. Then ride slowly around an empty car park, pulling away and stopping a few times to learn where the clutch now bites, and check that neutral can still be found at a standstill. If the bike creeps or neutral is reluctant, move the blade a position further out, or have the clutch free play checked. Five minutes of testing confirms that the new setting works as well as it feels.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EST333 for the Speed Triple 1050 R from 2012 to 2015, at the original clutch mounting. The later R of 2016 and 2017 has its own clutch lever in the range, the EST333P. For the brake side, the EDF011 covers the same 2012 to 2015 bikes and comes in the same colours; the 2016 and 2017 R is listed with the EDF099.
Road Approval
Without a documented German ABE, this clutch lever is sold for track use.
