DescriptionThe whole story▼
The GSX1250F's engine pulls from very low revs, a trait inherited from the Bandit 1250 and one that changes how the gearbox gets used. On a relaxed ride there is no need to work through every gear; many riders skip one or two on the way up and let the torque do the rest. Fewer changes put more weight on each one. Accossato's ESS014 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the GSX1250F of 2010 to 2016, with an adjustable distance to the grip and a choice of three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Suzuki GSX1250F, 2010 to 2016
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Distance to the grip adjustable
- Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green and orange
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm in all seven colours
- Machined and anodised aluminium, black hub
- One fixed blade, no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato turns the ESS014 out of aluminium on CNC machines and gives it an anodised finish. The hub, anodised black, carries the pivot and the reach adjuster; the blade is dyed in the colour you order. Anodising produces a surface that is harder than raw aluminium and keeps its colour through weather and years of handling, which suits a touring bike that covers long distances. The lever has no hinge or folding section and is rigid from the hub to the tip of the blade.
Fewer Changes, Each One Smooth
Skipping gears works because a big, torquey four does not mind pulling a tall gear at modest revs. Going from second straight to fourth on a gentle road, or from third to fifth on a motorway slip road, saves effort and keeps the ride calm, especially with a passenger, whose helmet no longer knocks against yours at every change. A skipped gear does mean a bigger drop in revs, though, so the clutch has to come out a little more slowly and deliberately to avoid a lurch. That is work for the fingers rather than the whole hand. Set the ESS014 so that the clutch begins to engage while your fingers are still bent, and the controlled release comes naturally. The long blade, with its lighter pull, is a sensible choice on the GSX1250F, a bike that is often ridden for hours at a stretch. And treat the gearbox with respect: select each gear firmly, and skip only when the road is calm.
Fitment and Compatibility
The GSX1250F appears in Accossato's catalogue for this lever from 2010 to 2016. The ESS014 goes where the original clutch lever was, at the stock mounting, and the EDF014 completes the pair on the brake side for the same model years, so both sides can share one colour. Black and red are only made in the standard length.
Road Approval
For the ESS014 there is no documented German ABE, and we supply it for the track.
