DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Brutale 800 RR is a motorcycle that asks to be ridden with commitment, and not every rider who loves it has young hands. Plenty of owners carry decades of riding in their fingers, and with them the odd stiff knuckle or an old injury that makes itself felt after a long day of pulling a clutch. Accossato's ESM048 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the Brutale 800 RR of 2015 to 2017. It can be set closer to the grip, and its long version gives more leverage for a lighter pull.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Brutale 800 RR, listed 2015 to 2017
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable, so the pull can start with the fingers curved
- Long blade for more leverage in blue, gold, green or orange
- Also short, and standard at approximately 138 mm
- Anodised aluminium, black hub
- One-piece, fixed blade
Construction and Material Quality
The ESM048 is CNC-cut from aluminium, which keeps it light and gives it a stiff, precise shape, and then anodised: black at the hub, where the pivot and the adjuster sit, and coloured along the blade. Anodising grows a hard oxide layer out of the metal and dyes it, so the colour stays in place where the fingers rub. The lever has no folding joint; it is fixed from hub to tip, so the effort of your fingers goes into the clutch and not into flexing a hinge.
When the Hand Complains
Two things decide how much effort each clutch pull takes: where your fingers start, and how far from the pivot they pull. On the Brutale 800 RR, you can influence both. The adjuster of the ESM048 brings the blade closer to the grip, so the fingers begin the pull already curved rather than stretched flat, the position in which stiff or tired joints are weakest. The long blade moves the point of pull further from the pivot, and leverage does the rest: the same clutch needs less force at the fingertips. Together, the two changes can make a long day noticeably easier on the left hand. For riders recovering from a hand or wrist injury, the benefit tends to show most in town, where the clutch is pulled most often. If you are unsure which length suits you, start with the standard blade, the one closest to the lever MV Agusta fitted.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESM048 covers the Brutale 800 RR from 2015 to 2017 and fits at the original clutch mounting. Although Accossato's entry reaches further back, the RR itself first appeared as a 2015 model, and that is where this product begins. The EDF015 brake lever for the same bike is listed for 2015 only. Both are made in the same seven colours.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on record for the ESM048, so we sell it for racetrack use.
