DescriptionThe whole story▼
A bobber is, by tradition, a motorcycle with everything unnecessary taken off, and owners of Moto Guzzi's V9 Bobber often carry on where the factory stopped. Handlebars are among the first parts to be changed, and every new bar moves the grips, and with them the point where the left hand meets the clutch lever. The Accossato ESC037 is a clutch lever for the V9 Bobber of 2016 to 2020, machined from aluminium and anodised, with an adjustable reach that helps restore a comfortable position after such changes.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the V9 Bobber, 2016 to 2020
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Distance to the grip adjustable
- Three blade lengths: short, standard (about 138 mm) and long
- Silver available in short and standard; black and red in standard
- Machined aluminium, anodised in two tones
- Rigid one-piece lever
- Comes in an Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
For the ESC037, Accossato starts with a block of aluminium and machines it to shape under computer control before anodising it. The treatment leaves a surface that is harder than bare aluminium and holds its colour well: black on the hub, which houses the pivot and the adjuster, and one of seven colours on the blade. No folding joint interrupts the blade, so the lever feels solid in the hand and comes back to the same spot every time it is released.
New Bars, New Reach
Swap the V9 Bobber's stock bar for something lower, wider or pulled back, and several things change at once: the angle of your wrists, the height of your elbows and the direction from which your fingers approach the levers. A clutch lever that was comfortable before can suddenly sit too far out, or at an angle that bends the wrist when you pull it. The adjuster on the ESC037 takes care of the distance. Set it with the new bar fitted and in your usual gloves, so that the fingers reach the blade with the hand in line with the forearm. How far the whole lever assembly is rotated around the bar is a separate setting, made at its clamp, and it is worth checking too after a bar swap. Length matters as well: a narrow, low bar often pairs well with the short blade and keeps the cockpit compact, while a wide bar leaves room for the long blade and its lighter pull. Finally, make sure the clutch cable or line has enough slack at full lock in both directions before the first ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESC037 appears on Accossato's list for the V9 Bobber from 2016 to 2020, entered as V9 850 Bobber, and it fits at the bike's own clutch mounting. The EDF016 covers the brake side for the same years. Both share the black hub, so they can be matched in one colour or deliberately combined in two.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the ESC037; it is therefore supplied for use on the track.
