DescriptionThe whole story▼
For many riders the 390 Duke is the first proper motorcycle after the test: light, quick and within the A2 licence class without any restriction kit. Those riders are often younger, sometimes smaller, and still building the clutch control that experienced riders take for granted. Accossato's ESK390, milled from aluminium and listed for 2013 to 2019, can be brought closer to the grip than the original lever of the 390 Duke.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the KTM 390 Duke, model years 2013 to 2019
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable, so the blade can come closer to the grip
- Short, standard (approx. 138 mm) and long blades, depending on colour
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange and silver
- Black hub, blade anodised in one of seven colours
- Fixed one-piece design
- Packed in an Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
On the ESK390, two jobs are divided between two parts. The hub, anodised black, contains the pivot and the adjuster that decides where the lever rests when you are not pulling it. The blade, milled like the hub on CNC machines and anodised in a colour of your choosing, is what your fingers work, and it is rigid along its whole length with no hinge. Turning the adjuster moves the resting point of the blade nearer to the grip or further from it, while the blade itself keeps its shape, so on the 390 Duke nothing about the lever changes unless you change it.
Sized for a Smaller Hand
The distance between grip and lever that suits an average adult hand in summer gloves can be too far for a rider with shorter fingers. They then pull the clutch with their fingertips, which is tiring and imprecise, and in traffic it tempts them to keep the lever pulled in for too long or to hurry the release. The fix is to bring the lever in until the blade lies under the middle of your fingers with the hand relaxed around the grip, and then to check that you can still pull it all the way in. With the lever set like that, the friction zone arrives where the fingers have most strength and feel. Once the reach is sorted, the standard blade suits most hands on the 390 Duke; the short blade suits small hands that like to use two fingers, while the long one lightens the pull for riders who spend a lot of time in town. After changing the reach, spend a few minutes practising slow riding in an empty car park, pulling away, crawling at walking pace with the clutch slipping and stopping with the lever held in, until the new position is the one your hand expects.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato matches the ESK390 to the 390 Duke from 2013 to 2019, fitted where KTM mounted the original clutch lever. For the brake, the EDF039 covers the same model years and is anodised in the same seven colours.
Road Approval
We sell this clutch lever for track use, since there is no German ABE on record for it.
