DescriptionThe whole story▼
The V4 in the VFR800F has two personalities. Below a certain engine speed it runs on two valves per cylinder, smooth and frugal; above it, Honda's VTEC system brings in all four valves, and the engine changes its voice and its pull. Riders who enjoy the VFR800F learn to choose their gear with that switch in mind, and the clutch lever is part of that choice. Accossato's ESV000 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the VFR800F from 2014 to 2019, with an adjustable reach.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Honda VFR800F, 2014 to 2019
- Replaces the original lever at the clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable to the hand
- Short blade for quick two-finger shifts, in five colours
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm
- CNC-machined aluminium with anodised finish
- Black hub, fixed one-piece blade
- No documented German ABE, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the ESV000 from solid aluminium and anodises it, with a black hub and a blade in one of seven colours. The pivot and the reach adjuster sit in the hub; the blade runs from there to the tip in one rigid piece, with no folding joint. Anodising forms the colour within the aluminium surface, so a lever that is pulled thousands of times a season keeps its finish.
Two Characters in One Engine
On a relaxed ride the VFR800F can stay below the VTEC switch point for hours, changing up early and letting the V4 pull quietly. On a mountain road many riders prefer to keep the revs above it, which means dropping a gear before a bend and changing up later. Either way, the clutch decides how smooth each change feels. A downshift into the four-valve range brings a sharper response and more engine braking, so the lever should be released progressively rather than simply let go. That is easiest when the lever sits where the fingers can control the last part of its travel. Set the ESV000 so the friction zone falls in the middle of your fingers' movement, then try a few downshifts on a quiet road until the release feels smooth. The short blade, in blue, gold, green, orange or silver, suits quick two-finger shifts, while the standard blade gives more leverage for relaxed touring.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESV000 for the VFR800F from 2014 to 2019, fitted in place of the original lever at Honda's clutch mounting. The EDF018 brake lever is listed for the same bikes and years, so both sides of the VFR800F can be fitted with the same blade colour.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE documented for the ESV000. It is sold for use on racing circuits.
