DescriptionThe whole story▼
Brisk riding on the CB1100RS means plenty of downshifts before bends, and on a bike with a classic four-cylinder voice, a clean, rev-matched downshift is part of the pleasure. It is also a matter of stability, because a gear taken too roughly can make the rear tyre skip. The clutch lever sits at the centre of that technique. Accossato's ESH033, made for the CB1100RS of 2017 to 2019, is a machined aluminium clutch lever with adjustable reach and a choice of three blade lengths.
Key Features
- ESH033 clutch lever for the Honda CB1100RS, 2017 to 2019
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
- Distance to the grip adjustable
- Short, standard (roughly 138 mm) and long blades
- Blade colours: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver, green
- Black anodised hub, CNC-machined aluminium body
- Fixed design with no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
The ESH033 is shaped from aluminium by CNC machining and finished by anodising, which leaves the hub black and the blade in your colour. Between hub and tip there is no hinge; the lever works as a single rigid arm, pivoting only at the original mounting point. When you pull it quickly for a downshift and let it back out a fraction of a second later, the clutch follows every movement without delay, and the engagement point stays exactly where you set it.
Matching Revs on the Way Down
A rev-matched downshift is a handful of small movements that overlap. Pull the clutch, blip the throttle briefly so that engine speed rises to suit the lower gear, press the gear lever, and let the clutch out again as the revs peak. Done well, the bike slows smoothly on its engine without any jolt through the rear tyre; done badly, the rear wheel is jerked and the chassis pitches. The clutch half of the move depends on speed and precision, and neither comes easily if the lever is far away. Bring the ESH033 in so that two or four fingers can pull it to the grip with a short, quick movement, and so that you know by feel where the bite point lies. Many riders use a partial pull, just past the bite point, rather than drawing the lever all the way in; a reach set to your hand makes that partial pull repeatable. Practise on a quiet road until blip and lever work together without thought, and the RS rewards you with smoother corner entries.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names the CB1100RS among the bikes for the ESH033, and the lever fits the original clutch mounting of the 2017 to 2019 RS. The years on Accossato's list reach further back than the model itself, which Honda introduced for 2017, so this product is limited to the RS's real production years. The same reference covers the standard CB1100 and the EX, and the brake lever that matches it on the RS is Accossato's EDF018. Red and black are made only in the standard length; for a short or long blade, choose blue, gold, green or orange, or silver for the short version.
Road Approval
The ESH033 is supplied without a documented German ABE and is intended for circuit riding.
