DescriptionThe whole story▼
Once a road bike has a few seasons behind it, some owners give it a second career on the circuit, and the R6 of 2005 to 2016 is a popular candidate: a supersport with a high-revving four and a chassis that feels at home on track. Turning one into a dedicated track bike means working through a list of parts, and the brake lever is usually on it. The Accossato EDR104 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for these R6 models, adjustable for distance to the grip.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the R6, 2005 to 2016, including the R6 S versions Accossato lists
- Works with the original front master cylinder
- Reach adjustable at the pivot
- Three blade lengths, standard approx. 138 mm
- Black hub, blade in seven colours
- Aluminium, CNC-machined, anodised
- Fixed, non-folding design
- Sold for track use, with no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato produces the EDR104 on CNC machines from aluminium and anodises it afterwards. The black hub, with its pivot bore and reach adjuster, and the coloured blade form one rigid part, without the joint of a folding lever. Machining gives the blade a consistent profile and clean edges, so the fingers find the same contact every time, and the anodised surface keeps its colour through rain, cleaning and the constant handling that a track bike's life involves.
From Road Bike to Track Bike
Preparing an R6 for the track usually starts with the obvious items: lights and mirrors off, race bodywork on, lockwire wherever the organiser demands it. The controls follow, because a track bike is set up around the rider's position in a tuck, not around a relaxed road posture. The EDR104 lets you place the lever for that tuck. With the bike on its stands, get down behind the screen as you would on the straight, then move into your braking position and check where your fingers fall. The reach adjuster brings the blade to them. For many track riders the short blade is the natural choice, since it ends before the outer fingers and suits two-finger braking; it is made in blue, silver, gold, green and orange. And because the lever has no documented German ABE, it belongs on exactly this kind of bike, one that travels to the circuit on a trailer or in a van rather than on its own wheels. Whatever lever you fit, a fresh fill of brake fluid before the first track day is sensible preparation.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDR104 for the R6 from 2005 to 2016 and adds the R6 S for 2006 and 2007. It mounts on the original master cylinder. The later R6 of 2017 to 2020 has its own brake lever on Accossato's list, the EDR015. For the clutch of the 2005 to 2016 bikes, Accossato names the ESY688, which it lists for R6 models from 1999.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for this lever, so its place is on the track, and that is what we sell it for.
Scope of Delivery
The EDR104 comes on its own in an Accossato box, anodised in your colour and made in your length.
