DescriptionThe whole story▼
At the top of the MT-10 range sat the SP, with electronically adjusted suspension and a paint scheme of its own. On a bike specified with that much care, the brake lever is one of the few parts an owner can still shape to personal taste, both in feel and in colour. The Accossato EDF016 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the MT-10 SP of 2017 to 2019. It mounts on the original master cylinder, and its distance to the grip is adjustable.
Key Features
- For the MT-10 SP, model years 2017 to 2019
- Replaces the stock brake lever on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable at the pivot
- Blade in silver, blue, black, red, gold, green or orange; hub black
- Short, standard (about 138 mm) or long, depending on the colour
- Machined from aluminium and anodised
- Fixed design, one piece without a folding joint
- Track use only: no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Machining on CNC equipment gives the EDF016 its shape; anodising gives it its colour. Together the two steps produce a lever whose finish is not a coat on top of the aluminium but part of it, which is why the colour stays even and does not flake. The hub, the section holding the pivot and the adjuster, is anodised black in every case. The blade is rigid and continuous, so your input is transmitted without the small extra movement a folding joint can introduce.
Matching the SP's Colours
Choosing a colour for the MT-10 SP is easier if you start from the bike as it stands. If your SP is finished in silver and blue, a silver blade blends in with the painted surfaces, while blue picks up the accent colour and makes the lever part of the design. Black is the most restrained choice and all but disappears into the hub. Red, gold, green and orange are there for riders who want contrast, although against cool colours they will stand out rather than fit in. Length is the second decision, and it narrows the options: silver comes as a standard or short blade, blue in all three lengths, black and red only in the standard version. The short blade suits riders who brake with two fingers, the long one gives four fingers room and extra leverage, and the standard one is the closest match to what Yamaha fitted. Whatever combination you choose, set the reach before the first ride, wearing the gloves you use most often, so that the new lever feels as considered as it looks.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF016 for the MT-10 SP from 2017 to 2019. It takes the place of the standard blade on the SP's original master cylinder. No clutch lever appears on Accossato's list for the SP, so this brake lever is offered on its own. If your MT-10 SP has already been fitted with aftermarket controls, compare them with the product photos before ordering.
Road Approval
The EDF016 is sold for track use; there is no documented German ABE covering it.
