DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few motorcycles carry a design history like the Katana's. The original GSX1100S Katana of 1981, with its sharp nose and silver bodywork, changed ideas of what a large sports motorcycle could look like, and the GSX-S1000 Katana brought that shape back on the basis of the GSX-S1000. On a bike bought largely for its looks, even the brake lever is part of the design. Accossato's EDF035 is a machined aluminium brake lever for the GSX-S1000 Katana, listed for 2020, with adjustable reach and seven blade colours.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Suzuki GSX-S1000 Katana, model year 2020
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Silver blade in standard or short, black in standard
- Five further blade colours, black hub on every version
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Fixed blade, no hinge
Construction and Material Quality
Anodised aluminium has a look of its own, a satin metallic sheen that is neither painted nor polished, and it sits naturally beside the Katana's metallic paintwork. Accossato machines the EDF035 from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodises it, the hub always black and the blade in the colour you select. The pivot and the reach adjuster are housed in the hub. The blade is a single rigid piece, fixed to the hub rather than hinged.
Silver, Black and the 1981 Original
The first Katana wore silver, and silver is still the colour most people picture when they hear the name. On a GSX-S1000 Katana in silver, a silver blade carries that theme into the cockpit; it is made in the standard and the short length, and the short one gives a compact outline that suits the bike's cropped tail. On a black Katana, a black lever keeps everything dark and crisp, while a single colour, gold perhaps, turns the lever into a deliberate accent. Blue, green and orange are there too, each of them available in all three lengths, and red is made as a standard lever. Whichever colour you choose, the hub stays black and sits discreetly beside the master cylinder, so even a bright blade reads as part of a considered design rather than an afterthought. If you want the two sides to match, the ESV004 clutch lever for the Katana comes in the same colours.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF035 for the GSX-S1000 Katana for the 2020 model year, where it replaces the stock blade on the original master cylinder. For the clutch side of the same bike, Accossato lists the ESV004, a different reference from the clutch lever of the GSX-S1000 roadster, which is why the Katana has products of its own. Red and black blades are made in the standard length only.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for the Katana brake lever, which we therefore sell for track use.
