DescriptionThe whole story▼
Where the V9 Bobber is dark and low, the V9 Roamer is its brighter sibling, with a taller, pulled-back handlebar and an upright position that suits long, unhurried rides, often with someone on the back. Both share the 850 cc air-cooled V-twin and the shaft drive of the V9 range that Moto Guzzi introduced in 2016. Accossato's EDF016 is a CNC-machined brake lever for the Roamer of 2016 to 2020, with adjustable reach and a blade in short, standard or long form.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the V9 Roamer, 2016 to 2020
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable at the hub
- Long blade for more leverage in blue, gold, green or orange
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; short blade in five colours
- Black anodised hub, coloured blade
- Machined from aluminium, fixed, with no hinge
Construction and Material Quality
Cut from aluminium on CNC machines and anodised in two tones, the EDF016 has a black hub and a blade in the colour you select. The hub holds the pivot and the adjuster; the blade extends from it as one rigid piece, without the joint of a folding lever. Machining rather than casting gives a consistent section along the whole length. And because the anodised finish is bonded into the metal rather than layered over it, the lever keeps its colour after years of contact with gloves.
With a Passenger Behind You
A passenger changes the way a motorcycle stops. The extra weight sits high and behind you, and under braking it moves forward, first against your back and then through your arms into the bars. A sudden grab at the lever makes that shove sharper, and it is often the moment when a pillion's helmet knocks against yours. The remedy is to brake earlier and build the pressure gradually, so both of you are eased forward rather than thrown. On the V9 Roamer, the adjuster lets you set the blade where your fingers already rest when cruising, which shortens the gap before that first light touch. If you often ride two-up, look at the long blade: it gives more leverage, so the firmer squeeze needed for the heavier load asks less of your hand. Before a longer trip for two, check the reach in the gloves you will be wearing, and agree with your passenger how they will brace themselves whenever you slow down.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists this lever for the V9 Roamer from 2016 to 2020, naming the bike V9 850 Roamer. It mounts on the Roamer's original master cylinder. The companion clutch lever is the ESC037 for the same years. Roamers built from 2021 onwards are not in the listing.
Road Approval
This brake lever carries no documented German ABE. It is sold for use on race circuits.
