DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 1090 Adventure R was built for riders who leave the tarmac on purpose: long-travel suspension, spoked wheels with a 21-inch front, and ergonomics that still work when you stand up. Off-road, much of the riding is done standing on the footpegs, and that changes the way the right hand reaches the front brake. The Accossato EDB012 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the KTM 1090 Adventure R, listed for 2017 to 2019, with an adjustable distance to the grip.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the KTM 1090 Adventure R, 2017 to 2019
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable for braking while standing or seated
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange or silver for one- and two-finger braking
- Standard (approximately 138 mm) in all seven colours; long in four
- Machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- Rigid blade, no folding mechanism
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the EDB012 from aluminium and then anodises it in two tones: black for the hub with its pivot and reach adjuster, colour for the blade. Off-road, a lever collects dust, mud and the occasional stone, and an anodised surface copes with that routine better than paint would, because the colour is part of the oxide layer rather than a coat above it. The blade is fixed to the hub as a single piece; nothing in it folds or moves at a joint.
Braking While Standing
Standing on the pegs raises the body and moves it forward, and the arms come down to the bar at a steeper angle. From there the fingers meet the brake lever from above rather than from behind. Off-road riders usually brake with one or two fingers in this position, leaving the others wrapped round the grip to hold on over rough ground, and they need the blade close enough to find without looking. Adjusting the EDB012 inwards achieves that. The short blade is the natural choice for one- and two-finger braking on loose surfaces, because it ends where those fingers are and never traps the others against the grip. On gravel the front tyre asks for gentle, progressive pressure, and a lever sitting precisely under the fingertip makes that easier to deliver. Accossato knows this terrain from its own history: in 1985 the company won an enduro world title.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDB012 for this bike from 2017 to 2019. Its catalogue entry reads Adventure 1050 R; the years are those of the 1090 Adventure R, the model this product is intended for. The lever mounts on the original master cylinder in place of the stock part. For the left side, Accossato names the ESA090 clutch lever for the same three years, so the 1090 Adventure R can wear a matching pair.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for the EDB012; it is sold for use on closed courses and tracks.
