DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Kawasaki Z250SL is a light single-cylinder naked bike, and small machines like it are often ridden by students and commuters, many of them with a rucksack on their back: laptop, lunch, a change of clothes. That extra weight sits high, and under braking it pushes the rider forward onto the arms just as the bike's own weight moves onto the front tyre. The Accossato EDF025 is a brake lever for the Z250SL, listed for 2017 to 2019. It is CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, fits the original master cylinder, and its reach adjusts so that braking stays precise while the body is being pushed forward.
Key Features
- Replacement brake lever for the Kawasaki Z250SL, 2017 to 2019
- Fits the original front master cylinder
- Adjustable reach for different hand sizes
- Blade in short, standard (approx. 138 mm) or long, depending on colour
- Colours: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver, green
- Anodised aluminium with a black hub
- One-piece rigid blade
Construction and Material Quality
Clean edges and a smooth contact face are what the fingers notice first on a machined lever. The EDF025 gets both from CNC machining, which gives the blade the same defined profile on every piece. Anodising then converts the metal's surface into a hard, coloured oxide that cannot peel away. Accossato keeps the hub black whatever the blade colour, so the part nearest the master cylinder never draws the eye. No hinge breaks up the blade; the whole lever works as one rigid piece.
A Rucksack on Your Back
When you brake, your body wants to keep moving, and a loaded rucksack adds to that. If the arms take the load, they stiffen, and stiff arms press on the bars, disturb the steering and make fine control of the lever harder. The better technique is to take the braking forces with the legs and core: grip the tank with your knees, keep the elbows slightly bent and let the hands only operate the controls. A lever that is easy to reach supports this, because the fingers do not have to stretch while the rest of the body is braced. On the Z250SL, set the EDF025 so the blade falls under your fingers with the wrists straight and relaxed. Keep the rucksack light and its straps tight so it cannot shift, or move heavy items into a tail bag. The standard blade of approximately 138 mm, made in every colour, suits most riders; two-finger brakers can choose the short one.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDF025 is entered for the Z250SL, name Z 250 SL, with the years 2017 to 2019. It mounts on the original front master cylinder. The matching clutch lever, the ESK025, appears in the list for the Z250SL of 2015 to 2017, so the two entries overlap only in 2017; for a 2015 or 2016 bike, Accossato lists the clutch lever but not this brake lever.
Road Approval
Accossato provides no German ABE for the EDF025, so this lever is intended for track use.
