DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Vulcan S Café takes Kawasaki's approachable 650 cruiser and adds a touch of café-racer style, most visibly a small cowl above the headlight. It is a bike chosen as much for how it looks as for how it rides, and the details in front of the rider count. The brake lever is one of them. The Accossato EDF021 replaces the original front brake lever of the Café, listed from 2017 to 2019, with a machined aluminium lever whose reach can be adjusted and whose blade is anodised in one of seven colours.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Kawasaki Vulcan S Café, 2017 to 2019
- Blade anodised in black, silver, red, blue, gold, orange or green
- Hub always black
- Adjustable reach to the grip
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; short and long blades in some colours
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- CNC-machined aluminium, fixed blade without a hinge
Construction and Material Quality
Machining shows in the details. Where the EDF021 has been cut from aluminium on CNC equipment, its edges are cleanly defined and its surfaces are smooth, and anodising keeps them that way, because the colour is formed in the aluminium's own oxide layer rather than applied as paint. The hub, holding the pivot and the adjuster, is always black, so it blends with the controls around it. The blade takes the colour. It is a fixed blade, one piece from the hub to the tip, with nothing hinged in between.
A Detail in Plain View
Riders who pick the Café over the standard Vulcan S have already shown that style matters to them, and the lever is a detail they see on every ride, just below the cowl and the instruments. Colour is the obvious way to make it part of the design. A blade in a shade that echoes the bodywork ties the cockpit to the rest of the bike; a contrasting colour turns it into an accent; black keeps it discreet, and silver has a classic look that suits café styling. Because the hub stays black whatever you choose, even a bright blade looks intentional. Length is a practical decision as well as a visual one. The standard blade suits most hands, the short one leaves room for the other fingers on the grip when braking with two, and the long one gives more leverage. Not every combination exists: black and red come only in the standard length, and silver in standard or short.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDF021 is listed for the Café under Accossato's name EN 650 Vulcan S Café, from 2017 to 2019. It replaces the original lever on the Kawasaki master cylinder. For the clutch side of the Vulcan S Café, the ESK750 is listed for the same three years, in the same colours, so the pair can match.
Road Approval
A German ABE is not on file for this brake lever, and it is offered for the racetrack only.
