DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Panigale V4 R is the homologation version of Ducati's V4 superbike, built so that the factory could race it in the World Superbike championship. Its owners tend to ride in full race kit, and race gloves change the way a hand meets a lever. The Accossato EDF011 is a CNC-machined brake lever for the V4 R, fitted to the original master cylinder, with adjustable reach and a choice of three lengths. Accossato lists it for the V4 R under a 1100 R reference, for 2019 to 2020.
Key Features
- EDF011 brake lever for the Panigale V4 R, listed for 2019 to 2020
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Reach to the grip adjustable
- Short blade for two-finger braking, plus standard (about 138 mm) and long versions
- Machined from solid aluminium and anodised
- Black hub, blade in seven colours
- Rigid, with no folding section
- No German ABE documented: for use on the track
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium is the usual material for levers because it combines low mass with enough stiffness when the section is right, and machining from solid gives control over that section. After CNC machining, the EDF011 is anodised, which leaves a hard oxide layer on the surface; the hub is black, the blade takes your colour. The lever is fixed from end to end, so the stiffness you feel on the Panigale V4 R is that of one piece of metal rather than of two parts and a hinge.
Race Gloves and Pre-Curved Fingers
Race gloves are made pre-curved, with stiff armour over the knuckles and often a hard slider on the outside of the palm. The fingers therefore sit in a slight curl even when the hand is relaxed, and the leather over the fingertips is thicker than on a road glove. That changes where the lever should be. Set the EDF011 in the gloves you race or ride track days in, with the bike on stands and yourself in the tuck: the blade should meet the pads of your fingers without the hand having to open against the curve of the glove. The short blade suits riders who brake with index and middle finger and keeps the armoured knuckles of the other fingers clear of the lever at full pull. If you change to a different glove, check the reach again, as armour and padding differ from one pair to the next.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF011 for the Panigale V4 R with the years 2019 to 2020. The V4 R itself was presented as a 2019 model, so in practice this means the early R bikes. Accossato also names the EDF099 for the R from 2019 to 2024, filed under a 998 R reference, and the two listings overlap; compare the photos with your original lever before ordering. The ESH011 is Accossato's clutch lever for the V4 R of 2019 to 2020.
Road Approval
The EDF011 is sold for racetrack use, as no German ABE is documented for it.
