DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ducati built the Hyperstrada 821 for riders who liked the agility of the Hypermotard but wanted to travel on it, adding side cases, a taller screen and a seat shaped for longer days to the 2013 platform. A bike packed for a week away brakes differently from one ridden unladen. The extra mass asks for more lever pressure and a little more distance, and smoothness matters when luggage and perhaps a passenger are along. The Accossato EDB012, machined from aluminium, is the front brake lever for the 2013 to 2015 Hyperstrada 821 with adjustable reach.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Hyperstrada 821, 2013 to 2015
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Distance to the grip adjusted near the pivot
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; a short and a long blade are also made
- Anodised aluminium, cut on CNC machines
- Black hub and a blade in one of seven colours
- Fixed lever without a folding joint
- No German ABE documented, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
On a touring bike the brake lever collects more kilometres than almost any other control, in heat, in rain and in the grime of long motorway days. The EDB012 is shaped by CNC machining from a single piece of aluminium and then anodised, which gives it a hard outer layer that is part of the metal rather than a coating on it. Black covers the pivot end and its reach adjustment, while the blade is anodised in the colour you select. With no folding joint along the blade, nothing can work loose over a season of long days.
Packed for the Road
Load the side cases of a Hyperstrada 821, add a tank bag and perhaps a passenger, and the bike needs more from the front brake to stop in the same distance. Riders tend to respond by pulling harder and earlier, often with the whole hand, and that is where the long blade earns its place: the extra length lets the fingers work further from the pivot, so the same effort produces more force at the master cylinder. It is made in blue, green, gold and orange.
Set the reach a touch closer than you would for solo riding. The first contact then comes early, and the pressure can build smoothly without the jolt that sends a pillion's helmet into yours.
Fitment and Compatibility
Years covered by Accossato for this lever: 2013 to 2015, the period in which the Hyperstrada was built with the 821 engine. From 2016 the model became the Hyperstrada 939, which we list separately. On the left side of the bar, the ESD082 clutch lever is listed for the same 2013 to 2015 Hyperstrada 821.
Road Approval
Our records show no German ABE for this lever; its intended use is on the track.
