DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Hypermotard 939 SP was made for riders who take the supermoto idea seriously, with higher-spec suspension and more ground clearance than the standard 939. Sooner or later many of them book a circuit day, and the preparation for that day covers the controls as well as the tyres. Accossato lists a brake lever specifically for this version: the EDD001, machined from aluminium, fitted to the original master cylinder of the 2016 to 2018 Hypermotard 939 SP, and adjustable in its distance from the grip.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Hypermotard 939 SP, 2016 to 2018
- Replaces the original lever at the master cylinder
- Distance to the grip adjustable
- Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) and long blades
- Machined aluminium with anodised surface
- Seven blade colours on a black hub
- Rigid lever with no folding joint
- No German ABE is documented; sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the EDD001 from solid aluminium on CNC equipment and anodises it, leaving the hub black and giving the blade the colour you order. It is a rigid lever, with no joint anywhere along the blade. That gives it a direct, solid feel under braking, but it also means there is no breakaway section, so in a fall it takes the impact like any fixed lever does. Riders who plan several track days a season often keep a second lever in the spares box for exactly that case.
Before the First Session
A circuit day on the Hypermotard 939 SP starts in the paddock. Mirrors come off, lights are taped, tyre pressures go to track values, and the brake lever deserves the same attention. Set the reach in the gloves you will ride in, which on track are usually thicker leather ones than on the road: the blade should meet the fingertips when your hand rests on the grip in a relaxed way. Then check that the lever returns cleanly and that the brake light reacts as soon as it moves.
After the first session, when your hands know how hard you are braking, fine-tune the position once more and leave it for the rest of the day. Many riders choose the short blade for circuit work, since it keeps the outer fingers clear of the lever.
Fitment and Compatibility
Check your version first. Accossato lists the EDD001 for the Hypermotard 939 SP from 2016 to 2018, entering 2018 as a separate model year, while the standard 939 of the same period uses the EDB012 instead. On the left side, the ESD082 clutch lever is listed for both the SP and the standard bike.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for this Accossato lever on record, and we sell it for track days and racing.
