DescriptionThe whole story▼
Clutch fluid is the liquid nobody thinks about until the lever starts feeling vague. It sits in a small reservoir on the left handlebar of a Panigale 899, it does its work every time you pull in, and it ages quietly whether the bike is ridden or parked. Winter is particularly unkind to it, because a machine standing in a cool garage still lets moisture creep into the system. Accossato's FP007 is an aluminium cover for that reservoir, machined on CNC equipment and anodised in six colours.
Key Features
- Clutch master cylinder cover for the Ducati Panigale 899
- Accossato lists it for 2014 and 2015, ABS version included
- Made for the original clutch master cylinder on the left bar
- Aluminium, CNC-machined, colour applied by anodising
- Six colours: blue, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- FP004, TS003 and TS012 available for the same motorcycle
- No German ABE documented; sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Six finishes are offered for the FP007: blue, black, orange, red, silver and gold. Each cover is machined from aluminium, and the colour arrives afterwards through anodising, which is why the shade survives handling better than a painted one would. The part is drawn around the master cylinder Ducati fitted to the machines on Accossato's list, so it swaps for the original cover and leaves the hydraulics of the Panigale 899 untouched. Use the few minutes the job takes to examine the original diaphragm that was hiding underneath; if it has hardened, distorted or torn, deal with that before the new cover is fitted.
What the Winter Does to Clutch Fluid
Bikes that come out of a long lay-up often have a clutch that feels different from the one their owner remembers, and the fluid is usually part of the story, since it draws in moisture from the air over months of standing. Spring is therefore a sensible moment for this job. Begin by turning the bars on the Panigale 899 until the reservoir on the left sits horizontal, then drape a cloth over the tank and the instruments and keep clean water close by, because a drop of this fluid on lacquer does its damage in seconds. With the cover off, read the level against the marks and look at the colour of what is in there. Dark fluid means a change is overdue, and no aluminium cover in the world improves old fluid; the interval in the owner's manual is what counts, and the work belongs with someone who can bleed the system properly. Leave the reservoir open only as long as you must. Fit the FP007, tighten its fixings gently and evenly, then work the lever repeatedly with the engine off until the bite point feels exactly where it was.
Fitment and Compatibility
The application list from Accossato names the Panigale 899 of 2014 and 2015, including the ABS version, for the FP007. It is made for the standard clutch master cylinder; a bike carrying a different unit should be compared against that list before the order goes in. At Inter-Pace the same cover is also listed for the Multistrada 1200, the Monster 1200 R and Aprilia's Caponord 1200. Alongside it, Accossato offers the FP004 oil filler cap, the TS003 front reservoir cap and the TS012 for the rear, all of them available in colours that let the left bar, the right bar and the engine agree with one another.
Road Approval
For the FP007 we hold no German ABE and no test marking, so the cover is catalogued for racing and competition use.
