Many owners use their Monster 1200 S as an everyday bike: to work, across town in the evening, out to the hills at the weekend. In town the left hand does more work than anywhere else, because every junction, every set of lights and every slow queue means pulling the clutch in and feeding it out again. A light, consistent lever makes that easy, and it depends on a hydraulic system in good order. For the clutch reservoir of the Monster 1200 S of 2014 to 2020, Accossato makes the FP007, a machined aluminium cover available in six anodised colours.

Construction and Material Quality
Orange, gold, black, blue, silver or red: the FP007 is milled from aluminium and anodised in one of these six colours. It suits the clutch master cylinder that Ducati fitted to the bikes on Accossato's list, and on the Monster 1200 S it takes the place of the standard reservoir cover while the hydraulic system stays as designed. When you lift the old cover, check the seal or diaphragm underneath. If it has hardened or split, replace it before the new cover goes on.
Clutch Work in City Traffic
A hydraulic clutch keeps the lever feel constant, which is exactly what a rider wants after an hour of stop-and-go. It stays that way only while the system is healthy, and a few habits help. Glance at the reservoir now and then: the fluid should be within the marked range and should not have darkened. Remember that it absorbs moisture over time, and keep to the change interval in the owner's manual. When fitting the FP007, turn the handlebar until the reservoir is level, lay a cloth over the tank and the instruments, and take the lid off only for as long as the job needs. Wash any drop off the paint with water immediately. Tighten the cover gently, then test the lever several times with the engine off. On the first ride, pay attention at the first few junctions: the take-up should come at the familiar point, and pulling away from the lights on the Monster 1200 S should feel as smooth as before.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list covers the Monster 1200 S from 2014 to 2020 and the S Stripe of 2015 and 2016 for the FP007. The same cover appears in our catalogue for the Monster 1200 R, the Multistrada 1200 S and the Diavel. For the Monster 1200 S, Accossato also makes the FP004 oil filler cap and the TS003 and TS012 brake reservoir caps. Compare your bike with the list before ordering, especially if the clutch master cylinder is not the original.
