DescriptionThe whole story▼
Among TM's two-strokes, the MX 300 2T carries the largest engine built purely for motocross, and Accossato covers it with an Accossato by Marchald filter, part MTM705, matched to the MX 300 2 STR. built between 2015 and 2018. The manufacturer's claim for this filter line goes no further than being built with off-road materials and technology for sustained hard use, which Accossato states for the whole range rather than this bike specifically, and the pictured foam element carries the familiar Accossato by Marchald print.
Key Features
- Accossato by Marchald air filter, part MTM705, for the TM Racing MX 300 2T (MX 300 2 STR.), built 2015 to 2018
- Foam filter element with the Accossato by Marchald print, as shown in the product photo
- Accossato describes it as built with off-road materials and technology for sustained hard use
- No second Accossato filter is listed specifically for this bike
- Accossato lists the same filter for the TM Racing EN 300 2T, the MX 125 2T and the MX 250 2T
- No approval documentation on file; built for off-road and competition starts
Construction and Material Quality
The build years, the fitment and the off-road materials and technology description are what Accossato publishes about the MTM705, whose actual task is keeping dust out of the intake side of the engine; no oil is bundled with it. The foam carries the Accossato by Marchald print and has been cut to the MX 300 2T's standard air box shape. Signs that it is finished, a torn edge, a hardened patch, or gaps where it no longer meets the housing, mean it is time for a new one rather than another clean.
The Biggest Two-Stroke on the Motocross Side
A rider who has chosen the MX 300 2T specifically for its extra displacement is usually riding it hard, carrying more throttle through corners and onto jumps than a smaller two-stroke sees on the same track, and that style of riding pulls a heavier dose of dust through the MTM705 over a given moto than the figure a rider might expect from a smaller bike. Treating the cleaning interval that worked on a smaller two-stroke as a baseline rather than a fixed rule, and checking the filter sooner if the riding has clearly been harder than usual, keeps the filter from quietly falling behind what the bike is actually asking of it. A filter that still looks reasonably clean despite a hard session is a good sign the airflow is doing its job properly.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entry for the MX 300 2 STR. runs 2015 to 2018, matching the years given here, with the MTM705 as the only filter named for this bike. The same code reaches across to the TM Racing EN 300 2T, the MX 125 2T and the MX 250 2T on Accossato's list. Checking the part taken off the bike against the application list confirms the fit before ordering.
Road Approval
No approval documentation is on file for the MTM705, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use only; it is not intended for road-registered motorcycles.
