DescriptionThe whole story▼
The black anodised version of Accossato's Ready To Brake radial master cylinder pairs a 16 mm piston, suitable for single-disc systems, with a PRS pivot distance adjustable between 17, 18 and 19 mm. Its Shark Design body gives it a distinctive look that Accossato describes as unique among its master cylinders, and the black anodised finish is the one version of the three where the folding lever itself is also available in any of seven colours, long or short, with or without a lightening eyelet. An integrated micro-switch handles the brake light connection without adding noticeable weight.
Key Features
- 16 mm piston diameter, suitable for single-disc braking systems
- PRS pivot distance adjustable between 17, 18 and 19 mm with no extra tool needed
- Black anodised aluminium body in Accossato's Shark Design
- Folding lever available in seven colours, short or long, with (RST) or without (NRST) a lightening eyelet
- Offset riser with a quick-release jumper that also reduces master cylinder movement
- Integrated micro-switch for the brake light, built in without adding weight
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato calls this line the Ready To Brake master cylinder because the passive stroke is reduced across every pivot setting without the rider needing to adjust anything, and the Shark Design shaping is part of how that is achieved on the black anodised body. The mounting riser is offset to cut movement of the unit during braking and also carries a quick-release jumper for faster servicing, while the fittings underneath, stainless steel screws, a zinc-plated bleed valve and Formula 1 compound seals, are specified to handle repeated heat cycling and brake fluid contact. Despite the integrated micro-switch built into the clamp, Accossato keeps the overall unit light.
Choosing a Pivot Setting and a Lever Colour
On the black anodised body, the 16 mm piston, sized for single-disc braking, is matched to a PRS pivot distance that moves between 17, 18 and 19 mm, a range Accossato rates as suitable for all types of use because the rider can pick the setting rather than live with one fixed ratio. This is also the only one of the three body finishes where the lever itself comes in seven colours as well as two lengths and the RST or NRST eyelet choice, so the black anodised version doubles as the colour-matching option in the Ready To Brake range; the nickel-plated and natural versions keep the lever to a single colour. The integrated micro-switch means the brake light wiring is already handled, which the natural and nickel-plated versions of this master cylinder share as well.
Fitment and Compatibility
This Ready To Brake master cylinder matches 54 machines in our data, drawn from BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aprilia and Ducati; the BMW R1200GS, Honda CB1100, Kawasaki ER-6 F, Suzuki GSF1250 BANDIT and BMW F750GS give a sense of the spread. Model years for the full set sit in the Fitment tab on this page, so confirm yours before placing an order. Two further finishes of the same body, nickel-plated and natural anodised, are listed separately.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
