DescriptionThe whole story▼
Die-cast manufacturing is one of two production routes Accossato offers on the PZ015, an axial caliper built to an 84 mm distance between mounting centres and a 16 mm offset that can be mounted to the left, right or rear of the bike. Two 34 mm aluminium pistons sit alongside a dust seal, and the caliper comes with a pair of AGPA42 brake pads already fitted. Three further manufacturing and finish combinations, hard oxidation, chromed and black oxidation, are sold as separate listings on the same caliper.
Key Features
- Axial brake caliper, 84 mm mounting centres
- Offset 16 mm
- Die-cast manufacturing
- Two aluminium pistons, 34 mm diameter
- Dust seal fitted as standard
- Two brake pads, code AGPA42, included
- Mounts to the left, right or rear of the bike
- Listed for 41 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab
Construction and Material Quality
Where the rest of the Accossato range is CNC-machined, the PZ015 is also offered die-cast, a casting process rather than cutting the body from a solid billet, producing a caliper that still carries the same 34 mm aluminium pistons, dust seal and AGPA42 pads as the CNC-machined versions sold alongside it. The casting still has to meet the same 84 mm mounting centres and 16 mm offset as every other PZ015, so fitment is unaffected by the choice of manufacturing method used to produce the body.
Die-Cast Versus CNC-Machined Bodies
A die-cast caliper body is formed by injecting molten aluminium into a mould rather than machining it from a solid block on CNC equipment, a production route that Accossato applies only to the PZ015 in its range rather than to the monobloc or two-piece calipers elsewhere. The choice a buyer makes here is between manufacturing methods rather than finish alone: the die-cast PZ015 is sold in this one finish, while the CNC-machined version can be ordered in hard oxidation, chromed or black oxidation instead of it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the PZ015 for 41 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab, with the Aprilia RS 660 and TUONO 660 appearing alongside the Ducati HYPERMOTARD 950 and 950 RVE among 67 recorded applications. A bike that falls outside this list should have its 84 mm mounting centres, 16 mm offset and disc thickness checked, together with which of the three mounting positions, left, right or rear, the caliper is needed for on that machine.
Road Approval
Accossato does not supply ABE documentation for the PZ015, so swapping in this caliper in place of the original equipment is subject to registration before the bike returns to the road, and this is worth confirming with a testing authority beforehand. Replacing a brake caliper is always safety-relevant work, so having it fitted and the brake system bled by a qualified workshop is strongly recommended.
Scope of Delivery
