DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha XSR900 wraps a modern three-cylinder engine in the look of a classic roadster, and many owners enjoy giving it touches from motorcycling's past. Rearsets have always belonged to that picture. In the café racer era, moving the footrests back and the bars down was the first step towards a racing posture. Accossato's FT088 is an adjustable aluminium rearset for the XSR900 from 2016 to 2019, plain and functional in design, with knurled pegs and lever tips and a foot position further back than stock.

- Adjustable racing street rearsets for the Yamaha XSR900, 2016 to 2019

- Knurled footpegs and knurled tips on both levers
- Aluminium heel guards
- Footrests positioned further back than stock
- Standard or reversed shift
- All black or black with blue details
- No German ABE documented; track use only
Construction and Material Quality
A retro bike rarely benefits from parts that shout, and the FT088 does not. Accossato makes it from aluminium and keeps the design simple and functional, with knurled footpegs, knurled tips on the gear lever and brake pedal, and aluminium heel guards. The all-black version sits quietly beside the XSR900's engine; the version with blue details adds a touch of colour. Accossato describes the set as adjustable without explaining the mechanism, so we give no details about the adjustment.
A Café Racer Crouch for the Circuit
The café racers of 1960s Britain were ridden by young riders who crouched low over the tank with their feet tucked back, and the posture itself was borrowed from the racing machines of the day. It still works on a modern circuit. With the feet further back, the upper body tends to lean forward, the knees come closer to the tank, and more of the rider's weight goes towards the front of the bike, which helps keep the front tyre loaded through a corner. The XSR900's standard position is upright and relaxed, which is pleasant on a long ride but less so when you want to push on a track day. Rearsets will not turn the XSR900 into a sports bike, but they change how you sit on it: more committed, closer to the tank, feet ready to move. For an owner who likes the classic racer look, the combination of retro lines and a real racing crouch is part of the appeal.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT088 for the XSR900 from 2016 to 2019; later versions of the XSR900 are not covered by this listing. The kit offers standard or reversed shifting, and the reversed layout is a circuit habit that would be unusual on the road. A workshop should install the rearsets, set up the gear and brake linkages, check the free play at the rear brake and test the brake light. Torque values come from Yamaha's service data, with thread locker as specified. Try the position on the stand before the first track session.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE or parts report on record for the FT088; the kit is sold for circuit use rather than for the road.
