DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Suzuki GSX-R600 rewards corner speed more than brute acceleration, and corner speed depends on where the rider's body is. Hanging off, moving the hips and upper body towards the inside of a bend, lets the bike run slightly more upright at the same speed, which leaves more grip in reserve. Accossato's FT040 rearsets for the GSX-R600 of 2011 to 2015 set the feet further back than Suzuki's footrests, which many riders find helps the legs lock onto the bike, and offer standard or reversed shift.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, based in Villastellone near Turin, makes the FT040 from aluminium in a simple, functional design. The footpegs are knurled, as are the lever tips, and aluminium heel guards complete the kit. The rearsets are described as adjustable, but Accossato does not explain how or give the number of positions. You can choose all black or black with gold details.
Hanging Off, Step by Step
Move early. The body goes to the inside while the bike is still upright on the approach, before the braking zone or during its gentle final part, never in the middle of the hardest braking. Slide the hips across the seat by a hand's width or so, keep the outside knee pressed into the tank and put the ball of the inside foot on the peg, toes pointing forward and heel against the heel guard.
Then turn in. The inside knee opens towards the kerb, the upper body lowers towards the inside mirror and the eyes look through the corner to the exit. The outside leg does the holding: thigh against the tank, foot pressing on the peg, arms loose. With the footrests further back than on the standard GSX-R600, the outside knee finds the tank more easily for many riders, and the knurled pegs keep the boots from sliding as you move across the seat for the next bend.
Three faults come up again and again: moving too late, crossing up with the upper body leaning out while the hips hang in, and propping the body up with the bars. Work on one of them per session rather than all three at once.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT040 for the GSX-R 600 of 2011 to 2015. The rearsets replace the rider's footrests and both controls. A workshop should mount them, adjust the gear and brake linkages, check the free play and brake light and tighten each fastener to Suzuki's torque values with thread lock where specified. Try the new position on a paddock stand in full kit before the first session.
Road Approval
No ABE or German parts certificate is documented for the FT040, so it is offered for the track. On the road, a reversed pattern would be unusual in any case.
