DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of Kawasaki ZX-10Rs from the 2011 to 2015 generation lead a double life: registered for the road, yet loaded into a van several times a year for a track day. Somewhere along that path most owners begin changing the parts that connect them to the bike, and the footrests are usually near the top of the list. Accossato's FT027 rearsets for the ZX-10R of 2011 to 2015 place the feet further back than Kawasaki's footrests and can be run with a standard or reversed shift.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, a company started in Moncalieri in 1969, builds the FT027 from aluminium and describes it as simple and functional in design. Knurled footpegs and knurled lever tips give the boots grip, and aluminium plates protect the heels. Accossato calls the set adjustable, but it does not say how the adjustment works or how many positions are available, so do not count on a particular range. Choose all black or black with green details, green being the colour of Kawasaki's factory superbikes.
From Road Bike to Track Bike
The change to a dedicated track bike usually happens in stages. First come the basics that most organisers ask about: tyres and brake pads in good condition, no leaks, mirrors removed or folded, lights taped over. Then the rider starts to notice the bike itself. Like most road machines, the ZX-10R leaves the factory with footrests placed as a compromise between everyday comfort and sport, and on a circuit, where every corner means moving across the seat, that compromise begins to feel like a limit.
Rearsets are one of the most common changes at this stage. Moving the feet back lets you fold more tightly onto the bike, lock the outside knee against the tank and keep your weight off the bars through fast changes of direction. It was on this generation of the ZX-10R that Tom Sykes won the World Superbike title in 2013. The FT027 adds the option of a reversed gear pattern, which many track riders prefer because changing up with a push is easier when the bike is leaned over to the left. Without a road approval, the FT027 turns the ZX-10R into a circuit machine, and that is also the setting in which a reversed pattern belongs.
Before the first session, sit on the bike on a paddock stand in leathers and boots. Check that you can reach the gear lever with the ball of the foot on the peg and that the brake pedal falls naturally under the right toe.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT027 for the ZX-10R 1000 from 2011 to 2015. For the ZX-10R of 2016 to 2019, Accossato has a separate set, the FT105, which offers the standard pattern only. The rearsets replace the rider's original footrests and controls. Fitting belongs in a workshop: both linkages adjusted to your boots, free play and brake light checked, every bolt tightened to Kawasaki's specification and secured with thread lock where the manual requires it.
Road Approval
No ABE or parts certificate for German roads is on record for the FT027. It is intended for track use, which is also the only setting in which a reversed shift pattern makes sense.
