DescriptionThe whole story▼

TC-10 is the grey Blast, and it raises the question worth asking about every decor on this shelf: what does 100 € over a solid actually buy? Here it buys a graphic that behaves like a neutral, which is a narrower thing than it sounds and worth it to the right rider.
Five SHARP stars — and which Glamster earned them
If you are cross-shopping retro full-face helmets, this is the number that separates them. Most classic-styled helmets are either untested by SHARP or sit in the three-to-four star band; several are still sold against the superseded ECE 22.05 standard.
The Glamster06 was tested in May 2025 under ECE 22.06 and rated five stars out of five — the highest result the programme gives.
About the Blast TC-10 graphic
A grey graphic is a deliberate contradiction — the drawing is there, but the palette refuses to make an event of it. That combination suits the Glamster06 particularly well, because the helmet's appeal has never been about standing out; it is about a silhouette that most modern helmets have abandoned. A neutral decor lets the shape stay the subject while still giving the shell more to look at than paint. Against the solids, be honest about the arithmetic: 100 € more, a surface that cannot be touched in if chipped, and a helmet that is marginally harder to match with accessories later. Against the coloured graphics, it will look current for considerably longer. 🔵 Conspicuity is mid-range — better than any black in this range, well short of the TC-3.
AIM, three shells, double-D and EQRS
Shoei does not use a single polystyrene density throughout. The liner here is assembled from elements with different absorption characteristics, positioned so the structure distributes an impact over a wider area than a uniform block would — the same principle as the racing helmets, in a much smaller shell.
Outside it is AIM composite in three shell sizes; the retention is a double-D ring; the cheek pads release through EQRS.
The CPB-1V visor — and the sun shield that is not there
The CPB-1V is specific to this helmet family. It is not the CNS visor from Shoei's touring range and not the CJ series from the jets, and none of them interchange however similar the fitting looks — order by the visor designation rather than by the helmet name.
🔵 Same for the anti-fog lens: Pinlock EVO DKS056 for the CPB-1V, not the DKS301 that fits the GT-Air and Neotec.
One intake, aluminium mesh, no sliders
What ventilation actually prevents is humidity rather than heat. Sweat that cannot evaporate stays in the padding, and a saturated liner is what makes a helmet uncomfortable long before temperature does. The Glamster06's system is aimed at exactly that, on a modest scale.
One forehead intake, two mesh chin intakes, one neck exhaust — rated 4 out of 5 in MCN's long-term test.
Interior, fit and glasses
The parts of a helmet that wear are almost always the ones you touch: padding compresses, the chin strap cover frays, the cheek pads take the sweat. All of them are separately available for the Glamster06, which is why a well-kept example still feels new several seasons in.
The pads also come in more than one thickness — the same mechanism that restores a fit lets you correct one.
How loud it actually is
🔵 One thing worth checking on any helmet at this price: the visor seal. If air whistles when the visor is fully closed, the seal is not seating — on the Glamster06 the silicone oil supplied in the box is there to keep it supple, and a dry seal is the usual cause.
Correctly maintained, and with the chin curtain fitted, MCN rated the helmet 4/5 for noise.
Around 1300 grams, and the rest of the honest list
Every helmet is a set of choices, and Shoei's here were unusually consistent. Everything that would have added bulk to the shell was left out — sun visor, communication housing, large vent assemblies — and everything that protects was kept.
🔵 The result: around 1300 g, five SHARP stars, and no intercom compatibility, no speaker recesses and no drop-down shield.
Where it sits in Shoei's range
Between the Glamster06 and the Neotec 3 there is no overlap at all. The Neotec is a flip-up touring helmet: 1750 g, dual P/J homologation, sun visor, communication system, engineered for quiet at motorway speed. This is a 1300 g classic full-face with a chin curtain and a round visor.
They cost 200 € apart and answer completely different questions.

When something wears out
If the helmet fits everywhere except one spot, do not accept it. A Shoei dealer can shim the interior to your head shape, and the cheek and centre pads are separately available in several thicknesses for the same purpose.
We also stock the full CPB-1V visor range including the photochromic version, DKS056 Pinlock lenses, chin strap covers and chin curtains.

“The retro full-face done properly: vintage silhouette, modern homologation, five SHARP stars and a visor seal that keeps it quiet. It loses ground here only to open-face helmets, which fit the café racer brief more literally.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
Five SHARP stars and four shell sizes on a retro shell.
A genuine vintage look with none of the vintage compromises.
Comfortable, with a rubber seal around the visor aperture.
1,300 g — light.
The weak point: the chin vents are always open and only demist.
Very quiet for a retro shell, though the wide neck lets some in.
Five SHARP stars in a retro helmet has no rival.
