Shell Construction and Build Quality
The ADT-Advance thermoplastic compound is engineered to absorb impact energy effectively while keeping the overall helmet weight manageable over long rides. KYT produce the R2R shell in two sizes, meaning smaller head sizes are not simply wearing a scaled-down version of a large shell — the geometry is proportioned correctly for each head circumference group. The result is a helmet that sits evenly, distributes pressure consistently, and does not produce the top-heavy feel that single-shell designs can create.
The matte black finish itself is applied with the same care as the gloss and graphic variants in the R2R range. The surface is uniform, resistant to minor contact marks, and avoids the fingerprint-prone appearance of some matte finishes — a detail that matters on a helmet used daily.
Dual Visor System and Optics
The R2R Plain uses a scratch-resistant outer visor with UV380 protection, seated behind a central locking mechanism that holds the visor firmly at any set position. Swapping visors requires no tools and takes seconds, so carrying a tinted visor for sunny days remains a practical option rather than an inconvenience. The integrated sun visor drops smoothly via a side lever and is sized generously enough to be genuinely useful rather than merely present. Combined with the included Pinlock MaxVision 70 insert, fogging is effectively eliminated in typical British and European riding conditions.
Interior Comfort and Ventilation
KYT's Hydrocool lining uses moisture-wicking, temperature-regulating fabric throughout the helmet's contact surfaces. The cheek pads and crown liner are fully removable and machine washable, and the cheek pads incorporate a quick-release system for easy removal — useful both for cleaning and for emergency responder access. Glasses wearers are accommodated by discreet channels cut into the cheek pad foam, allowing standard frames to sit cleanly without pressure points.
Ventilation is handled by two large front intake vents, internal ducting channels, and a rear spoiler-integrated exhaust port. The airflow path is designed for everyday and touring use, keeping the interior temperature stable and visor fogging to a minimum even at moderate road speeds.

Take out the washable lining and hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Clean the shell and visor with a soft cloth and water only — never solvents.
