Horizon lays silver grey over the weave rather than covering it, so the carbon still runs through the graphic. It is the most practical finish in this range and the one that asks least of you over five years.

Carbon throughout — chin bar included

Carbon is chosen for stiffness at low mass rather than for being unbreakable. A stiffer shell spreads impact load across a wider area of EPS than a more flexible one, and does so at less weight.

🔵 What it does not do is survive an impact and carry on. Like every helmet, this one is finished after one — and carbon hides the damage better than composite does.

No safety rating — and why the Advant X stars do not apply here

🔵 We checked SHARP's complete LS2 brand list rather than relying on a search. „ADVANT X" is the only Advant entry there; no „Advant X Carbon" and no „FF901 Carbon" exists. Certimoov does not list the FF901 either.

Untested is not the same as poor — but it is not the same as tested, and we will not blur the two.

A flip-up with P/J dual homologation

🔵 The 180-degree rotation is not a styling detail. A chin bar parked on the forehead catches air, adds lift at speed and sits in your upper field of view; one folded flat against the rear of the shell does none of those.

🟢 On this version the bar is carbon too, so the folded mass at the back is lighter than on the composite helmet.

About the Horizon silver grey graphic

Value rather than colour decides both how dirty a helmet looks and how quickly a driver resolves it, and a silver grey sits at the useful point for both at once. Road film, dried rain and the grey deposit a long motorway day leaves all show least here — obvious against a white helmet, a haze against a dark one, essentially invisible against this. On a modular that gets picked up, set down and handled at every stop, that compounds. It also sits meaningfully above the bare carbon finishes on the value scale, so it separates from tarmac in flat light appreciably better than either of them. 🔵 On this shell the graphic is applied so exposed weave still shows through, which matters when you are paying partly for the material. Gloss care applies: wash wet, dry with a soft cloth, and never dry-wipe a clear coat.

Twin Visor, Pinlock 120 XLT and a tinted spare

🔵 The tinted second visor is a daylight accessory. Across most European jurisdictions a tinted visor may not be used at night or in poor visibility — carry the clear one if the day might outlast the light.

🟢 The internal sun shield covers the changing-light case that a tinted visor cannot, and retracts in a second.

Metal buckle and the Emergency Release System

Correct strap tension: snug under the jaw with room for one finger and no more. If you can roll the helmet forward off your head with the strap fastened, it is loose or the wrong size.

🔵 A ratchet holds at a preset length and that length drifts as the padding beds in — re-check it after the first rides and each season after.

X-Static lining and everyday comfort

Laser-cut edges matter more than they sound. A stitched or crushed seam inside a helmet is a ridge, and a ridge sitting on your forehead for four hours becomes the only thing you can think about.

Carbon or composite — which Advant X to buy

Within this model the price ladder is entirely paint: the two carbon-finish versions and the slightly pricier four graphics share one shell, one liner and one equipment list.

Care and replacement parts

🔵 Never clean a carbon shell with solvent, petrol or alcohol. The lacquer over the weave is the UV barrier for the resin beneath, and once it is attacked the damage is invisible at first and structural later.

Warm water and a soft cloth is the whole procedure.

Size guide

A tape gets you to the right size; it cannot tell you about head shape. If a correctly-measured helmet presses at the temples while gapping at the forehead, that is shape rather than size — and no padding change fixes it.
