Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 (2018–2020) PM155S

Husqvarna built the Svartpilen 701 for three model years and then stopped. That is a short life for a motorcycle, and it changes the arithmetic of owning one. Every consumable you fit today is a consumable you will have to source again in five years, from a parts bin that is no longer being restocked for a current model. Most owners of a discontinued bike learn this the slow way, one back-ordered part at a time. The Sprint Filter P08 PM155S sidesteps the problem entirely, because it is not a consumable: you clean it and refit the same element.

What happens to parts supply after production ends

Air filters are stocked against demand, and demand for a three-year model falls away quickly once the last examples leave the dealer network. Nothing dramatic happens — the part simply becomes a special order, then a long special order, then something you buy from whoever still has one on a shelf. Meanwhile the element in your airbox is doing what paper elements do: loading up, softening at the pleat folds, and steadily raising the restriction the engine has to pull against. The P08 is woven polyester from threads of at least 22 micrometres. It does not soften with age and it is not consumed by use, so the supply question never arises.

One element, thirteen machines

There is a second reason this part stays available. The PM155S is not a Svartpilen 701 part — it is the element for a whole family of KTM and Husqvarna machines, from the 790 Adventure through to the 1290 Super Duke GT. Thirteen models share it, several of them still in production. A part that sits across that many current motorcycles does not quietly disappear from the catalogue the way a model-specific consumable does.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and let it dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame.
