On a fully-clothed motorcycle the filter is rarely the expensive part of changing the filter. The cost is in the access: bodywork off, fasteners tracked, panels stacked somewhere they cannot be scratched, and the whole sequence reversed afterwards. On a KB4RC nobody does that casually. Which is exactly why the element in the airbox should be one that repays the trip — the Sprint Filter P08 PM111S is washed and refitted rather than thrown away, so the same job that used to end in a new consumable now ends with the original part back in place at the restriction it had when new.

The labour is the part you are buying
Because access is the real expense, the interval between visits matters more here than on a naked bike. Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters means the same quantity of road dust is spread across more medium before it begins to raise the pressure drop, so the airbox stays acceptable for longer. And when the panels do come off, the element does not have to be in stock anywhere — it is cleaned on the bench and refitted the same afternoon, which is not something a paper element allows.
Enclosed bodywork, dry medium
Full fairing changes the thermal picture around the intake: less moving air over the components at low speed, more retained heat when the bike is stopped. That is one more reason the P08 medium is dry. There is no oil to thin, migrate or find its way onto an air sensor or a throttle body — the polyester is woven to a calibrated aperture and filters by structure rather than by tack. Cleaning is compressed air, and nothing is re-applied afterwards.
Care and cleaning
Since the bodywork is already off, do it properly. Compressed air from the clean side, blown outwards, is the routine; a deeper clean is lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. Let the element dry fully in open air — never with heat, never with a flame — and refit it dry. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
