For many airboxes in this catalogue Sprint Filter offers a choice of media: a coarser racing weave, a fine nonwoven for dust, a mat for extreme conditions. For this one it offers a single element, the P08 in CM13S. That makes the decision in front of a DB11 owner simpler than usual, and also a different decision. It is not which medium to pick. It is whether the paper panel should keep being bought, or be replaced once by something that is cleaned instead of thrown away.
Key Features
- Dry woven polyester, oil-free from new and refitted dry after every clean
- 80 µm at a rated 5,050 l/m²/sec — the road and track medium, and the only one listed for this airbox
- Around twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, within the standard frame
- Takes the paper panel's place directly: nothing cut, nothing repositioned, no remap
- Washed with water and a mild detergent when compressed air is no longer enough
- Designed for the service life of the motorcycle, guaranteed for two years from purchase
The one decision actually on the table
A disposable panel is bought, fitted, and then quietly deteriorates until a service interval says its time is up — at which point it goes in the bin at a condition nobody has measured. A washable element is bought once and then maintained, which means its condition is something the owner sets rather than something that merely happens. Neither approach is exotic and both work. The difference is that one of them turns a recurring purchase into a recurring twenty minutes with an air line, and keeps the state of the intake a known quantity in between.
The limit of the claim
Say it clearly: an element sitting in an unmodified airbox does not make a standard motorcycle noticeably faster. Intake and fuelling were developed together, and a panel inside the sealed box is not where character comes from. The honest benefit is a lower intake resistance that stays put across the interval instead of climbing, and a maintenance item that is serviced rather than restocked. On a motorcycle whose appeal was never the parts bill, that is a small, permanent tidying of it.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air first, held to the clean side of the CM13S and directed outward, so what the weave caught goes back out the way it came. Water is the second step and only when needed: lukewarm, with a mild washing-up detergent, rinsed until it runs clear. Then leave it to dry in moving air, nowhere near a heat gun, a radiator or a flame — heat destroys the medium far more reliably than dust does. It is refitted dry, with nothing applied to it. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the airbox of the Bimota DB11 built from 2011 to 2015. Eighteen machines are covered by the part number: the DB7 and DB7 Oronero, the DB8 and DB8 SP, the DB9 Brivido and this one, together with twelve Ducati models. Model years for each are in the Fitment tab.
