Staub ist ein Wort, das zwei sehr unterschiedliche Dinge umfasst. Auf einer unbefestigten Straße bedeutet er mineralischen Grus, der von vorausfahrenden Rädern aufgewirbelt wird – grob, trocken und in Wolken ankommend. Im Stadt- und Autobahnverkehr bedeutet er etwas völlig anderes: Bremsen- und Reifenabrieb, Ruß und einen feuchten Straßenfilm, der sich eher wie eine Paste als wie ein Pulver verhält. Der SM239T12 ist für die erste Art ausgelegt, und das steht auch so auf dem Etikett. Ein V100 Mandello, der sein Leben in der zweiten Art verbringt, ist nicht die Maschine, für die diese Stufe entwickelt wurde, und das hier klar zu sagen ist fairer, als die Spezifikation etwas anderes andeuten zu lassen.
Wichtige Merkmale

- Kein Öl im Medium, und keines darf zugegeben werden, weder bei Lieferung noch bei einer Reinigung
- Etwa doppelt so große Arbeitsfläche wie ein typisches Performance-Element, wodurch ein so dichtes Material erst als Panel nutzbar wird
- Passt in der werkseitigen Position in den Standard-Luftfilterkasten, ohne Zuschnitt und ohne Remapping
- Wird gereinigt und wiederverwendet statt ersetzt, mit zwei Jahren Garantie ab Kaufdatum
Die Bedingungen ehrlich benennen
Die Empfehlung für die feinste Stufe stützt sich auf Luft, die über einen längeren Zeitraum viel feinen Feststoff mit sich führt: Schotterstraßen, landwirtschaftlicher Verkehr in trockenen Jahreszeiten, Baustellenumleitungen, Tag für Tag befahrene unbefestigte Zufahrten. Ein so genutzter Mandello wird feststellen, dass das Medium genau das leistet, was seine Einstufung verspricht. Ein auf befestigten Straßen bewegter Mandello trifft, so dicht der Verkehr auch sein mag, nur auf einen Bruchteil dessen, was das Standardgewebe ohnehin bewältigt, und das feinere Gewebe würde schlicht Durchsatz kosten, ohne einen entsprechenden Gegenwert zu bringen.
Der Tausch in beide Richtungen
Feiner bedeutet mehr Rückhaltung und weniger Durchsatz – ein einziger Tausch, niemals eine Rangfolge, und ein feineres Medium setzt sich bei gleichem Luftvolumen auch schneller zu, was das Intervall zwischen den Reinigungen eher verkürzt als verlängert. Nichts in dieser Anordnung erzeugt Leistung: Ein Element in einem unveränderten Luftfilterkasten lässt ein Serienmotorrad genau das leisten, was es immer geleistet hat. Der verlässliche Vorteil ist ein Ansaugwiderstand, der niedrig beginnt und durch Reinigung vollständig wiederhergestellt wird, an einem Panel, das bei der Maschine bleibt, statt von ihr verbraucht zu werden.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft ist der richtige erste Schritt, und die Richtung entscheidet, ob er wirkt: von der sauberen Seite nach außen blasen, damit die Last aus dem Vlies zurück nach außen getrieben wird statt weiter hinein. Bei einer Last, die sich Luft widersetzt, ist lauwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel richtig; gründlich ausspülen und das Panel danach vollständig in bewegter Luft trocknen lassen. Niemals mit Hitze oder offener Flamme trocknen und niemals ölen – der Wiedereinbau erfolgt trocken. Das Wartungsblatt liegt im Downloads-Tab bereit.
