The Stelvio watches a great deal of its own surroundings. Radar-based rider assistance keeps an eye on the traffic, riding modes read the throttle and the wheels, and warning lamps exist for most of what can change on a modern motorcycle. There is no instrument for the air filter. No sensor reports how far a panel has loaded, no lamp announces the moment it starts to matter, and nothing on the dashboard distinguishes a fresh element from one that has taken a hard summer. With SM239T12 the schedule is the instrument, and it is set by the rider rather than by the machine.
Key Features
- Dry polyester special nonwoven, filtration rated at 7 µm
- Rated flow of 560 l/m²/sec, stated openly because it is what the retention costs
- Dry from the first day to the last: nothing to oil, nothing to re-oil, nothing to overdo
- Roughly double the filtering area of a typical performance element, folded into the standard panel
- Direct replacement for the factory element in the series airbox, no modification needed
- Serviceable for the life of the motorcycle, with two years of warranty from the date of purchase
Setting an interval nobody publishes
There is no mileage figure for a washable element, because loading follows the air that has passed through it rather than the odometer. The practical method is to look early and then space the checks out: open the airbox after the first hard, dusty stretch, see how much the panel has taken, and let that observation set the rhythm for the rest of the season. Two riders on identical machines can honestly arrive at very different intervals, and both can be right.
Why the closest grade on this machine
The Stelvio is the one member of this platform sold to be taken down unsurfaced roads, and that is the air the 7 µm grade was drawn for. The other side of the trade holds all the same: a closer material passes less and loads sooner, and no material adds anything to what the engine produces. An element sitting in an unaltered airbox leaves a series motorcycle exactly as strong as before. What it changes is how low the intake resistance sits, and how completely a cleaning brings it back.
Care and cleaning
Service SM239T12 with compressed air aimed from the clean side outward, so trapped particles leave the way they arrived. Where a fine load will not come out with air, wash the panel in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse it thoroughly and let it dry all the way through in circulating air. Heat is the one thing that will finish this material early, so no gun, no radiator and no flame; the element goes back in dry and untreated. The Downloads tab carries the maintenance sheet.
Fitment & Compatibility
Drawn for the airbox of the Moto Guzzi Stelvio in model years 2024 to 2026. Two machines share the part number in this medium, the Stelvio and the V100 Mandello, and the Fitment tab lists both with their model years.
