DescriptionThe whole story▼
Boho is the most decorated helmet in this range and the only one that uses a metallic. Four colours on one shell is ambitious at this price, and the reason it holds together is the way the bronze is used.
1350 grams, and why that is the headline
The Rapid III sits at 1350 g because of what it is and what it is not: an HPTT shell, three shell sizes, and no internal sun visor.
🔵 If you want the sun visor, the FF808 Stream II has one and weighs 200 g more.
HPTT shell, three shell sizes and ECE 22.06
What „HPTT" describes is a thermoplastic formulation rather than a construction method. The construction is injection moulding, in three shell sizes, over an EPS liner.
🔵 Approval is ECE 22.06, and the helmet weighs about 1350 g.
No independent safety rating — and the trap that goes with it
🔵 The Rapid III's evidence base is LS2's own specification plus ECE 22.06 approval. Everything on this page comes from one of those two sources, or is flagged as a construction assessment.
There is no independent crash rating to add, and the previous model's is not transferable.
About the Boho graphic
Metallic pigment is difficult on a helmet. Spread across a large area it looks cheap almost immediately, because a flat metallic cannot produce the depth that an actual metal surface does; confined to a line or an edge it does the opposite, catching the light along a curve and giving the shell an apparent third dimension. Boho takes the second route, keeping bronze to the detailing and letting white, black and pink carry the composition. The result is the most ornamental helmet here without being the loudest — it reads as a pale patterned helmet at distance and only shows the metallic when light moves across it. 🔵 The white base means good conspicuity and frequent washing, and the pink is a colour with no equivalent in traffic, which helps further. Metallic and printed elements cannot be touched in after a scratch. Worth adding that of all the graphics here, this is the one that photographs least well and looks best in person — metallic pigment needs light moving across it to do anything, and a catalogue photograph is lit from one fixed direction. If you are ordering it unseen, expect it to be more subtle in the hand than on the screen, and more interesting.
What this helmet does not have: an internal sun visor
🔵 Among LS2's road full-faces, the Rapid III is the light one without the shield and the Stream II is the equipped one with it. Both are ECE 22.06; only the Stream II has an independent rating.
The extra cost between them buys a sun visor, a 4-star SHARP result and 200 g of extra weight.
Chin and top intakes, channelled EPS
🔵 Two things on this page are assessments rather than measurements, and both are flagged: ventilation and fit. Both are derived from the published construction.
Wind noise is left blank entirely, because there is nothing to derive it from.
Anti-fog — prepared for, not supplied
Without an insert the chin intake becomes your fog management, and it is reasonably effective at speed and much less so at a standstill.
🔵 The visor is pinned for a Pinlock 70 MaxVision. The lens is a separate purchase.
Lining, closure and everyday comfort
The breath deflector and chin curtain do more for everyday comfort than any vent setting: together they cut the cold draught up the chin bar in winter and reduce the amount of breath reaching the visor.
🔵 Both are supplied fitted and both are removable.
Where it sits in LS2's range
The Rapid III is the helmet in LS2's catalogue most people actually end up on, and the reason is the combination: light, cheap, well ventilated, three shell sizes, nineteen ways to look.
🔵 The compromises are the sun visor, the insert and the missing rating.
Care and replacement parts
Everything serviceable comes off or out without tools: visor, vent covers, chin curtain, breath deflector, crown pad, cheek pads and neck roll.
🔵 That is worth something across five years of ownership and is not universal at this price.

Specification
- Model — LS2 FF820 Rapid III
- Part number — 168200902
- Colour — Boho — White, black, pink and bronze
- Homologation — ECE 22.06
- 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP has no entry for the FF820, Rapid III or Rapid 3 (brand list checked directly). The 2-star result under „FF353 Rapid" belongs to the previous-generation helmet — different shell, different standard — and is deliberately not carried over. No ADAC or Certimoov result either
- Shell — HPTT injection-moulded thermoplastic; three shell sizes (2XS–S / M–L / XL–3XL)
- Weight — approx. 1350 g (±50 g), mid-size shell without accessories
- Sizes — 2XS to 3XL (eight sizes)
- 🔴 Sun visor — none. This helmet has no drop-down internal shield — unlike LS2's FF808 Stream II, FF811 Vector II and FF817 Challenger II. It is most of the reason it weighs 1350 g
- Visor — clear outer visor, scratch-resistant, tool-free change
- 🔴 Anti-fog — prepared for Pinlock® 70 MaxVision™ — the insert is NOT included. The pins are fitted; the lens is a separate purchase
- Ventilation — chin and top intakes feeding channelled EPS, with rear exhausts — two intake paths, one more than the FF817. 🔵 Assessed from the published construction; no independent airflow measurement exists
- 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this model
- Retention — ratchet buckle
- Interior — hypoallergenic, antibacterial, fully removable and washable. 🔵 No branded wicking fabric (no COOLMAX or X-Static) and no magnetic wind deflector — both appear further up LS2's range
- Included — chin curtain and breath deflector, both fitted and removable
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
- Serviceability — visors, cheek pads in several thicknesses, complete lining, chin curtain, breath deflector and vent covers all available separately
- Replacement guidance — after about five years regardless of condition, and immediately after any impact
