Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Ducati DesertX (2022–2026) PM264S

A DesertX collects equipment the way few motorcycles do. Bars, plates, racks, screens, lights, tyres — each chosen against a route the owner has in mind, each visible from two metres away. The intake sits outside that habit entirely. Nobody upgrades an airbox, because nobody looks into one; it is the single system on a travel bike that is left exactly as delivered and topped up with a consumable when a workshop remembers. PM264S is the Sprint Filter P08 element for that overlooked box.

The part nobody photographs

Attention on an adventure bike follows what can be seen, and the filter loses that competition every time. It is also the only item on the list that touches every cubic metre of air the engine will ever use. Fitting a washable element does not make the airbox interesting; it moves it from the column of things that get replaced when someone notices into the column of things that get maintained on purpose. That is a small change of category, and on a machine built for high mileages it is the one that quietly matters most.

Honest about what it changes

It does not add power. Ducati developed the intake, the injection and the exhaust as one system and homologated them together, so an element dropped into an unmodified airbox leaves a standard DesertX exactly as strong as it was. What it changes is the shape of the restriction curve over time. A paper panel is at its most open the day it is fitted and closes from there until it is thrown away; this one is returned to its starting state with compressed air, in a garage or at a campsite, as often as the owner chooses.

Care and cleaning

An air line does almost all of it: hold the nozzle to the clean face and blow outward, so the trapped load leaves along the path it came in on. After genuinely dirty riding, hand-warm water and a mild detergent shift what air will not, rinsed through until the water leaves clear. Everything then dries in moving air at ambient temperature — no hot-air gun, no radiator, no flame, because heat destroys polyester silently and completely. Fitment & Compatibility

Listed for the Ducati DesertX built from 2022 to 2026, in place of the standard element. The code covers that one motorcycle; the later DesertX V2 is a different machine with an airbox and a part number of its own, so order against the build year in your registration document. Covered years are shown in the Fitment tab.
