The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
A KB4 tends to cover fewer kilometres in a year than the engine underneath it was designed for. It is ridden on chosen days, kept indoors, and spends long stretches standing still — and standing still is its own kind of service interval. A filter does not stop ageing when the bike stops moving: damp air moves through a garage, dust settles, and a cellulose element takes up moisture from the air around it whether or not anyone rides. The Sprint Filter P08 PM111S suits that pattern better than a disposable element, because it can be inspected and restored on demand rather than replaced on a mileage schedule the bike will take years to reach.
Key Features
- Inspected and restored on demand — washable, reusable, compressed air as the service
- Dry woven polyester which has never been oiled; nothing can creep downstream onto sensors or throttle bodies while the bike stands
- Thread from ø 22 microns, with the aperture set by the weave rather than by pressed pulp
- Twice the filtering area of other performance filters, give or take
- Goes into the standard airbox as a direct replacement — no modification, no remap, no change to homologation
- Two years of warranty, starting the day the filter is bought
Ageing that the odometer never records
Service schedules assume a motorcycle is used steadily. A machine that covers modest annual distances hits its calendar limits long before its distance limits, and the owner is left deciding whether a part that looks fine should be thrown away anyway. A washable element removes the dilemma: hold it to the light, blow it through, and put it back. Nothing is discarded because a date has passed, and nothing is left in place out of reluctance to buy a part that may not have needed replacing.
A small-series motorcycle on a large-series part
The KB4 is built in numbers that make model-specific consumables an awkward proposition ten years out. Its intake, though, is shared with a whole family of Kawasaki fours — this one PM111S element covers twelve machines. That is the practical reassurance behind an exotic chassis: the maintenance item is not exotic. It is a current, widely-fitted part, backed by two years of warranty from purchase and designed by Sprint Filter to last the life of the motorcycle.
Care and cleaning
After a long stand or a long ride, the procedure is the same: compressed air from the clean side, blown outwards. If that is not enough, lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, then drying fully in open air — never with heat, never with a flame — before refitting it dry. There is no oiling step; the polyester has never been oiled. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Bimota KB4, 2021 to 2026. The same PM111S element serves twelve machines built around this airbox, including the KB4RC and the Kawasaki models that share the engine; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
