Ten model years stand behind the Leoncino Trail 500 on this fitment list, 2017 through 2026, and that span changes what an air filter is being asked to do. A bike from the early end of it has passed through owners, workshops and winters its present keeper knows nothing about, and the airbox is the cheapest place to end that ignorance. Lift the cover on a used Leoncino and you learn more about how it was ridden than the stamps in the book will tell you. The Sprint Filter P08 makes that inspection repeatable: the element is washed and put back rather than binned.
Key Features
- One dry layer of woven polyester, rated 80 µm at a flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Sits in the series airbox where the paper panel sat — nothing trimmed, no remap
- Carries no filter oil at any point, so nothing can migrate past the box
- Roughly twice the filtering surface of a conventional performance element
- Cleaned with a compressed-air line and refitted instead of reordered
- Two-year warranty, with a service life specified as that of the motorcycle
Reading a second-hand airbox
A dry element keeps a legible record, because it brings no film of its own to the job. Every mark on it arrived through the intake. On a machine bought used that counts twice over: the first cleaning shows you what the previous owner's roads were made of, and every cleaning after it is yours to date. A paper panel offers the same reading exactly once, on the day its replacement has already been bought and nobody has a reason to look closely. Be plain about the limit, though — a drop-in element will not make a standard Leoncino Trail 500 noticeably stronger, and a listing that hints otherwise is selling a story. What actually changes is that the intake restriction returns to where it began whenever you decide it should.
One code across the whole run
Sprint Filter catalogues the same element against every year of this model, so a 2017 Leoncino and a 2026 one take the identical part. That removes the usual archaeology of ordering for an older machine: no superseded numbers, no revision letters, no guessing which update your frame number falls after. The part also outlasts the sales cycle — once the model leaves the range there is simply nothing left to restock.
Care and cleaning
Blow the panel through from its clean face outwards, so whatever the weave stopped leaves along the path it arrived by. That covers an ordinary service. Where the cloth has picked up an oily haze rather than dry dust, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent lifts it; rinse until nothing more comes away. Then let it dry in moving air and nothing else — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — and refit it dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet for the PM209S sits under the Downloads tab on this page.
Fitment & Compatibility
Cut for the airbox of the Benelli Leoncino Trail 500 as built from 2017 to 2026, one element per machine, and the longest production span among the seven bikes this filter covers. Those seven carry two different badges, Benelli and QJ Motor; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
