Two hundred euro less than the Fighter Evo, and the reason is visible at a glance: this slip-on keeps the standard heat shield instead of bringing a carbon one. What arrives is the silencer, the stainless link pipe and the valve device — the bike supplies the rest.
Key Features
- Euro5+ homologated slip-on for the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin and Adventure Sports.
- Dakar silencer, titanium, TIG-welded outlet tip.
- Stainless steel link pipe.
- 2,5 kg against 5,5 kg for the standard part.
- Fitted with the original heat shield retained.
- Removes the exhaust valve on model years up to 2023 without an ECU error.
A More Extreme Shape, a Simpler Article
Spark describes the Dakar as the more essential of its two Africa Twin slip-ons, and the design points straight at rally raid rather than at a sports bike. The outlet tip is TIG welded rather than clamped or bolted, which is what gives the end of the silencer its uninterrupted line.
Underneath, the article is deliberately less elaborate than the Fighter Evo: no carbon shield, no machined end cap. That is where the 200 euro sits.
Keeping the Standard Guard
Spark specifies that this slip-on is installed with the motorcycle's own heat shield in place. For an owner who wants the silencer changed and the bike otherwise left alone, that is the point of the article — the visible panel stays exactly as Honda made it.
It also means one fewer part to damage on a bike that gets laid down in gravel more often than most.
Why the Link Pipe Is Steel
The silencer is titanium; the pipe that feeds it is stainless. That is a deliberate split, not a saving. The link pipe on this motorcycle runs close to the swingarm and the rear wheel, it is the part most likely to take a stone or a boot, and stainless steel absorbs that kind of contact without cracking the way a thin-wall titanium tube can.
It is also the section nobody sees once the bike is together. Spending the titanium where it is visible and where the weight actually is, and steel where the damage happens, is the more useful arrangement of the same money.
Three Kilos, on a Tall Bike
2,5 kg against 5,5 for the standard part. On the Africa Twin the silencer sits high on the right, well above the centre of mass, and three kilos taken from there is felt in the first slow manoeuvre rather than on a lap time.
The Valve on Pre-2023 Bikes
Model years up to 2023 carry an exhaust valve in the silencer. Spark supplies a mechanical device with this slip-on that removes it without the ECU registering a fault, which saves both a remap and a dashboard light.
Fitment & Compatibility
Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin and Africa Twin Adventure Sports, 2020 to 2026. The same Dakar slip-on in black electro-coloured stainless steel is GHO1703DOM, at the same price. The Fighter Evo articles are GHO1702TOM and GHO1702BOM. Racing collector for the Adventure Sports: GHO8501. Not compatible with the original side bags.
