DescriptionThe whole story▼
A chin bar is the single most visible part of the OXO and the one that carries the locking at both sides, so replacing it means matching three things: helmet, shell size and finish. FX8701P is Shark's CHIN BAR SMALL SHELL Mat, a matt chin bar for the small OXO shell, offered in three finish codes.
Key Features
- Genuine Shark part FX8701P
- Chin bar for the OXO, small shell
- Matt finish
- Codes G02, B16 and KMA
- Listed weight 170 g
Which shell do I have
Shark builds the OXO in more than one shell size, and chin bars are made per shell. The fact sheet does not map helmet sizes to shells, so do not work it out from your head size. The label inside the helmet and the number on the old chin bar tell you which shell you have. This one is for the small shell only.
Fitting
The chin bar hangs on the side mechanisms and locks into them. Open it fully, release it as the OXO manual describes, and fit the new one the same way until both locks engage audibly. Before riding, pull firmly on the closed bar to check that neither side lets go.
Before you order
Shark's price list places FX8701P under the OXO in its model column. That is the source of the fit. Compare the number on your old chin bar as well; it is the most reliable way to confirm both helmet and shell.
Choosing the right version
Ten other small-shell chin bars sit next to this one. FX8705P, FX8707P, FX8709P and FX8761P are also matt and also the same price, with the codes ABK, AUK or KUB, KAA and KBR. FX8704P, FX8706P, FX8708P and FX8760P cost more and carry no matt mark. FX8702P and FX8703P carry the Sikter decor. Shark gives no colour names for G02, B16 or KMA; the code is printed on the original part and is what you order by.
