DescriptionThe whole story▼

FX8717P is the matt OXO chin bar for the large shell in KUB and AUK, and it costs the same as every other plain matt OXO chin bar. The French supplier line calls it MENTONNIERE GRANDE CALOTTE Mat.

Key Features

  • OXO chin bar, large shell, matt
  • Finish codes KUB and AUK
  • Supplier line CHIN BAR LARGE SHELL Mat
  • Listed weight 170 g

Finish codes

KUB and AUK are Shark's codes, and Shark gives no colour name for them. The code is on the helmet's label. FX8716P, listed just before this part, is the non-matt large-shell chin bar in KUR and BUO.

Which shell do I have

Large shell, confirmed on the label under the comfort liner. The same codes on the small shell are found on FX8707P.

Supplied as

One matt chin bar. Screws are not mentioned for this number; Shark sells them as FX8725P. Shark's price list gives the OXO as the helmet for FX8717P.

Keep the old chin bar until the new one is fitted and tested. If the label in the helmet is missing, the dealer who sold it may be able to look up shell size and code.

A note on structural repairs

The chin bar keeps the helmet closed at the front, which makes it a structural part. It is not a way to repair a crashed helmet: if the shell or the liner has taken an impact, the helmet has done its job once and should be replaced, whatever part you could swap.
