Where It Sits
Dimensionally this is 6 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. Öhlins uses low-friction coated bushings so the unit breaks away smoothly rather than sticking. Worn bushings show up as a knock over sharp edges before they show up as a leak. Play at the bushing shows up as a knock over sharp bumps.
Original Öhlins Part
Every part in this catalogue is one Öhlins fits itself during assembly and service. An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.
How to Be Sure It Fits
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 15483-06. Öhlins states inner diameter 6 mm, outer diameter 8 mm, length 9 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Both diameters and the length are specification, not approximation. Sleeves position parts axially and often set the preload on a stack.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
